Love the clean design and the “lid” for ingress/egress is super cool. Also with all the windows the driver will have great awareness of what’s around. I can imagine a larger version of this design for more practical applications too.

BTW , Im over here in America where you just don't see velomobiles . I've seen a couple in person from a distance as an exhibition at a bike race but never seen one on the road or been able to eyeball one up close , I have a trike, with disc's up front and a carbon trispoke in back , I enjoy my ride but this is a whole different level

i wonder if it would be fun if the canopy were in two pieces... the part around the third window being separate and just slide forward horizontally inside the main canopy, so you can have a drive head out if you want. also makes the canopy that flips up a bit shorter. Cool process!

Bloody love it. How long did the process take all up? I don’t know if people realise how long it actually takes to get something like this out without the CNC router and foam plug. Would be good to see a comparison video. Would be awesome to see a rapid prototyped aero shell for some unfaired bikes…. a long John style cargo bike would make massive gains with some aero attention…..

@@TriSled Imagine this cool looking aerodynamic weather enclosure but with full suspension, a 750w mid drive kit (road legal in USA) a bit longer so you have storage room for groceries behind the seat. Make a seat that could lay flat so it could convert into a sleeping pod for road trips, a trailer hitch to connect a bicycle trailer, room underneath the seat where could store 3 or 4 100w lightweight fold up solar panels to recharge its battery bank. Fans inside to keep you cool & an electric heated car like seat cover for heat. It'd be like a mini solar powered electric RV. When recharging, the solar panels could go on top to provide shade so it doesn't cook in the summer sun. You could use this like a mini car & stay warm and dry on rainy & cold days. It being very aerodynamic would be way more efficient than carrying groceries home on an ebike with saddle bags or bike trailer.

It looks pretty cool, but I can only imagine entry and exit would be extremely cumbersome and the apparent lack of ventilation would cause some serious sweating.

At the expense of speed, you could incorporate better airflow for cooling, but you can also wear a hydration bag full of icy hydration in a backpack but worn backwards on your chest to cool off. Drink it as you ride and when you are empty, refill it. On the hottest days 3 liters gets me about 2-3 hours of cooling and hydration before refilling.

Better ventilation for the rider should be provided. Also, kind of a protection for a long hair user that can stuck in the rear wheel the way it is now. Like you said, it's a prototype.

Distance that long, wouldnt it be lighter and more efficient with belt-drive? You don't have triangle to cut through after all (not nowing your layout, just talking on recumbent arrow-designs in average pro tip: any bike belt drive that differs from regular belt-drive is that instead of frame on cog, it has centered guide disc and diagonally cut in the center of the cross-section of the belt to follow that guide and not slip off.

Has anyone realised yet, that any velonaut would overheat riding that because there's no/not enough airflow on the inside? Which also means that the glas will fog up and impair the vision. Kudos for design but it needs to work in practice otherwise it's useless.

As the Trisled trikes are raced in a number of 24hr races averaging towards 60kmh for the duration I think the issue is solved.

Wenn ich was nicht mag....dann ist es liegend Fahrrad zu fahren . Das einzige was ich liegend vorziehe ,ist es im Bett zu liegen. 😂 Es soll keine explizite Kritik an diesen Konzepten sein nur würde ich in jedem eine aufrecht sitzende Position vorziehen. Ansonsten mag ich es sehr solche vollverkleideten Fahrräder, die einem vor schlechtem Wetter schützen. Trotzdem weiterhin gutes gelingen 😊.

A bit too laid-back in my opinion, I prefer the more upward-position of the classics (getting in/out of this is something reserved only to athletes, and not average commuters)... Aside to that, it should be much more affordable than the all-carbon-ones, cause it contains a simple ready-made steel-frame. I think, that´s a Plus, IF it really ends up being more affordable than the all-carbon-ones (which are really much more work to build and use up much more of the expensive carbon-fibre)...

The sundry concepts of fully faired, purely human powered, electric assist, electrically amplified or fully electric, super lightweight vehicles, from one to 4 wheels, have been developed, until fairly recently, in the experimental, handcrafted, one at a time mode, making them very expensive in a niche market. Various versions are appropriate for various speed & range environments, from downtown to suburban, rural or intracity transport & anywhere from little to very heavy commodity loads & typically one or two seat versions. In the most robust electric versions or in addition, pedaling for exercise on longer commutes, like the Rhat Racer, there is the desire to either fully replace the modern, gas’s guzzling multi-ton SUV or use a robust fully faired velomobile (FFV) as a second or more car replacement because the modern car has gotten so incredibly expensive, especially with covid-19 caused inflation & credit card culture, spending well beyond our means, placing future un-payable debt squarely on future generations. Besides the obvious need to equitably redistribute the wealth, otherwise the nascent econopolitical global body politic will either die or be unable to reproduce itself in future generations as to be viably sustainable (dramatic population decline, composed mostly of elderly pensioners). Three things have to be done to make FFV practical as automobile replacements or alternatives to the standard heavy automobile, whether fully gasoline or diesel, electric hybrid, plug-in hybrid or fully electric automobile: First. They MUST be mass produced to bring the price down. Second. There has to be separate lanes based on speed & mass for each form of transport with roundabouts, not stoplights, in the city environment, from pedestrians to bicyclists to velos, motor vehicles, like they are doing (especially in the lowland countries) of crowded Europe. And of course, purely pedestrian & bicycle zones for the innermost city shopping & tourists areas or city parks for leisure. Third. Advertising! For those of us, more futurist oriented, we KNOW mankind must get out of 20th Century thinking. Finite resources on a finite planet with an extremely thin & fragile Linus’s blue blanket atmosphere (of Schultz’s PEANUTS comic strip fame) our sole protection from the vast, irradiated void, blasted by solar plasma. If we DON’T take all these deeply interrelated problems SERIOUSLY SOON enough, there WON’T be a future worth having, if any at all, for mankind & whatever potential we have to evolve into. End list. Me, i’m very excited about the future. Because, unlike our early, very young, primitive science of Nietzsche’s times, thanks to the knowledge explosion, now going increasingly vertical, with Artificial GENERALIntelligence, quantum communications & computation, technology is increasingly like magic, lifting us up into the third dimension of flying bicycles, spaceplanes, floating cities on water, in air & underwater, going interplanetary, mining asteroids for precious metals, possibly going interstellar, with aa much mastery over genetic code as we do over machine code today, in which we can create paradise on any world we colonize or as giant space stations, customized worlds … Our fondest hopes, dreams, ideals & the Ultimate Ideal - God, the personification of all the forces of universe- becoming REAL. How? Ever since Darwin, Einstein & quantum physics, the true cognoscenti among us, like Carl Sagan, Kurzweil & Michio Kaku, we’ve known the multiverse is far, far more than we know. Like it or not, for logical, rational EMPATHS, like Gautama Buddha, Socrates, Christ & Muhammad, trying to get us past the war, drug, whore lord & usury stage, we know our electromagnetic field & mysteriously entangled quanta, interacting faster than light, we are everywhere & everything all at once, the evolutionarily emerging global consciousness & conscience of the world, the nascent world body politic of Christ (savior), with all the powers of universe increasingly at our command. As ancestors of angels, whether organic or inorganic & some combination of natural & artificial intelligence, we are the ancestors of angels, predestined since the dawn of time to bring peace, prosperity & understanding to every primitive world we touch. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but: is the windscreen an off the shelf part, or did you guys make that in house? It seems like one of the more annoying parts of the build to get right. (Also, as a tiny company engineer/manager, I feel you on the "keeping other things running so the team can stretch their legs on a project" thing. It's usually worth it, and honestly kind of fun to get back into the more immediate-payoff tasks for a bit.)

We vacuum form our own windscreens with a purpose built machine in house. We make shapes for most other manufacturers as well as our own.
