I completely agree with Lord Jamal on the point pertaining to Jay electronica. I myself was waiting for Jay electronica to drop something in this particular era that would equate to NAS illmatic in the '90s era, and I was disappointed as well. All we have is that mixtape of body work that he had that he never really put together as a solid cohesive classic album. And yes I agree with Lord Jamar as well that the project that Jay electronica ended up putting out as a actual album that had Jay Z on it was really like Jay z's public service announcement to be super cultural and super you know pro. Jay Z had some highlighted verses on there but it just wasn't a j electronic album. That was a collaboration album between the two Jays 😅

Crazy in Hip Hop we don't embrace the OG Rap Artist. Rock and Roll artist from the 70's, 80's and 90's can steal sell out arena's today and be embraced by younger generation. Hip Hop not so much minus a Nas or Pac or Jay Z.

Jay-Z wanted a RETURN on his INVESTMENT. Ain't no way we probably even get that album from Jay Elect if wasn't for Jay-Z. It already was a decade by that point SMH!!! And yep he got outshined on Control and sent those subliminals at Kendrick on that album to, I peeped that LOL!!!! I remember when Control dropped they usually just played Big Sean and Kendrick's version, Jay Elect's didn't GET NO BURN. I don't even think Sean told him about Kendrick getting on like that SMH!!! Shit elevated Kendrick career, and Jay Elect went nomad for REAL.

That Jay Elec album was a bunch of old unfinished joints... he was playing them shits for years before release. I think the label was like "hurry up and finish" but he didn't so Jay Z just filled in the unfinished verses and they put it out. Act 2 is the real album.

Jay Elect is an artist...and most real artists are weirdos...I say this as an artist. Artists are different...some only create when inspired...others can come with a body of work in a package. I believe he was probably taking his time and living life...then JayZ aka Shang Tsung hopped on the joints on some Renegade type ish after the fact trying to capitalize off the fumes of the momentum Electronica had left... They more than likely weren't in the studio together...the 2 don't mesh

My best "Hip Hop" artist, MC, lyricist has gotta be Rapsody. If Kendrick is the king, Rapsody gotta be the queen. I'm actually worried bout her career cuz Rap' is also on Roc Nation. Jay Electronica is mos def a true lyricist, not just a rapper, an MC! Look what happened to all those legends on Def Jam when Jay Z was running the company. No promotional push, the marketing for their music was weak at best. In Hip Hop today there aren't many artists, who aren't from the 90s, who I'd consider REAL Hip Hop artists. You have "rappers" and you have lyricists. Rapsody and Electronica are the latter, but Hov could do better with pushing their music and get the recognition that they deserve. Maybe they haven't sold their souls tho🤷🏾‍♂️

Jay-Z's beats didn't, "carry him". Jay-Z's beat selection is a testament to his superior artistry. Nas is a historically awful selector of beats, which is a demerit to his otherwise brilliant artistry. How you frame a topic/question matters. The tides haven't turned; Nas just finally caught up...

What?! Nas shit been dope. You clowns follow that dumb ass vlad bullshit. Nas been ill. J a wave rider. He goes with what ever is trendy. Just listen to how his old artists said he used to steal their ideas for their songs he heard them making in the studio. This how we know you niggas don't know what yall be talking about.

Nas doesn't have bad albums, he just doesn't follow the waves and formulas. He puts out music he wants and isn't influenced by media and it drives them mad. At this point there is no equal comparison between Nas and JayZ. KD1, KD2 and Magic have been excellent albums, whilst JayZ has been putting out forgettable tracks and features.

I respect my man Jamar but disagree. Jay Elect is a top flight MC the powers sabotaged him because he is real hip hop. If you listen to his subject matter very God & Earth inspired. His presence full time would have destroyed the agenda that has the culture dumbed down. Murder Mase isn't Bad Boy Mase. Maybe his time could be done but any old school artist in that case should as their self should you be heard?. Other genre's of music respect their own. Hip hop need to do that too.
