I completely agree with Lord Jamal on the point pertaining to Jay electronica. I myself was waiting for Jay electronica to drop something in this particular era that would equate to NAS illmatic in the '90s era, and I was disappointed as well. All we have is that mixtape of body work that he had that he never really put together as a solid cohesive classic album. And yes I agree with Lord Jamar as well that the project that Jay electronica ended up putting out as a actual album that had Jay Z on it was really like Jay z's public service announcement to be super cultural and super you know pro. Jay Z had some highlighted verses on there but it just wasn't a j electronic album. That was a collaboration album between the two Jays 😅

I remember when Control dropped they usually just played Big Sean and Kendrick's version, Jay Elect's didn't GET NO BURN. I don't even think Sean told him about Kendrick getting on like that SMH!!! I believe he was probably taking his time and living life...then JayZ aka Shang Tsung hopped on the joints on some Renegade type ish after the fact trying to capitalize off the fumes of the momentum Electronica had left... My best "Hip Hop" artist, MC, lyricist has gotta be Rapsody. If Kendrick is the king, Rapsody gotta be the queen. I'm actually worried bout her career cuz Rap' is also on Roc Nation. Jay Electronica is mos def a true lyricist, not just a rapper, an MC! Look what happened to all those legends on Def Jam when Jay Z was running the company. No promotional push, the marketing for their music was weak at best. In Hip Hop today there aren't many artists, who aren't from the 90s, who I'd consider REAL Hip Hop artists. You have "rappers" and you have lyricists. Rapsody and Electronica are the latter, but Hov could do better with pushing their music and get the recognition that they deserve. Maybe they haven't sold their souls tho🤷🏾♂️
