Nice video. Useful knot. In my caving club we are using two retrieval knots: SAIS Corona Knot and SAIS rope retrieval system with sewed webbing.

Nice and interesting technique, however with the dynema ring I would probably choose to use two quick links instead of running the rope directly through the ring because the dynema tape "eats" the rope. With that said, everithyng else 5 stars!

How do I retrieve a single strand rope that the single rope goes to the bottom? 200ft + walls and I can't double my rope.

You will have to have a small pull rope or walk back to the top.

Beal Escaper should work

Something needs to go to the bottom but the something can be thinner and cheaper pull cord. There are other binds and the Fiddle stick for accomplishing the same thing as this technique. This knot is risky, kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJW9fpSrac2Febc

So if i wanted to rappel with a single rope, i could actually use a paracord and put a stick in that loop and when i get down just pull the “pullcord” to retrieve the whole rope?
@LiveRogue5 жыл бұрын
yes, that is true but the idea behind this knot is to reduce friction on the tree anchor and/or the rock as your rope pulls.

@@LiveRogue How does this reduce friction on the "tree anchor"? Did you completely forget to mention that the release end is short and there's a smaller cord that will reach the bottom? Dragging a smaller cord around the tree will leave a narrower scar, but overall Is that really better?
