I have worked security in the past and there was an event where a gun went off and I reacted exactly like that. Just looked around and asked, "Who shot who?", while I reached for my self defense tools. It was a music festival so the sound of a gunshot wasn't immediately alarming to me. It was either part of the music or I was about to get unrestricted rules and a bonus after.
