Thank you for this interview. The minstrel show was my introduction to Lil Brother then I had to go back and get all the old stuff. I've played this stuff around women who have no clue who they are and they love it because they have that soulful sound, they have comedy in their music, old school samples, soulful beats, a bit of singing, and dope lyrics.

Carolina Baby... North Carolina and South Carolina have been influenced by everybody ... We used to listen everybody on the radio... the Gang Starr, next song they playing Luniz, next song they playing Do Or Die... When you hear J.Cole, Nick Grant, Childish Major, Rapsody they all get that collective Hip Hop energy... Cole was influence by Pac, Andre and Nas... Nick Grant influence by Andre, Big, and Nas... We are split... Especially in South Carolina... Its Texas, NorthEast, ATL all in one... U got some artist influenced by Texas Hip Hop, some follow ATL, some follow NorthEast but they still Rep the South rep the Carolina.
