It is impossible for Bob Seger to do a bad song. His voice is so distinctive , and he has such a gift in song writing. Not many artists are the complete package, and Bob Seger leads the pack. He is the music of my generation, and I am lucky.

Roll Me Away is another song you might like. Its about getting away and feeling free. Bob Seger toured forever. I grew up with his music. He came from Michigan and played in local clubs. I grew up in a town next to his. I was too young to see him before he became really famous but I've seen him in concert a few times as an adult. Anything from the Live Bullet album is awesome. The entire album is from a couple of concerts performed at Detroit's COBO Hall. That was one of my favorite albums. I wore it out!

I'm 66yr young and grew up with this music. The line is he a woman or man in a truck stop was because he and band members had long hair at that time. You need to check out his live version of this song, you won't regret it. Thank you for opening your heart, mind and ears to exploring so much music. 💜

"Is it woman, is it man?" is referencing the long, rocker hair he had in the 70s. It was a glorious mane.

There was a period of time between the 60's and the 70's when long hair on a man was considered counterculture. It didn't matter if you wore denim and had a full beard. You were looked at by the earlier generation as a pinko hippie and not to be trusted.

The reason you don't know Bob Seger is because at the height of his career, he took 20 years off from music to *Be a Dad*... I have to respect that so much. He didn't want to hear about the milestones of his kid over the phone or something while he was on tour.

NO! The line "is that a woman or a man" isn't what you were thinking. Back in the 70's most if not all rock groups had long hair and would be touring through the Midwest and the bible belt where most men had some version of a military or close cropped hair cut. So they were trying to make fun of the group members with long hair.

Right, and a lot of times in the 60s and 70s when young men had long hair it was just as beautiful and long as womens hair. So if you only saw the back of them you truly couldn't tell if they were male or female until they turned around.

That's a fact. Lived through it in many bars and clubs. I had a lead guitarist that had the most beautiful, long, shiny, black hair. He used to get hit on by guys a lot until he turned around. Then the fight started when the ladies in the guy's group started fawning over him. Yeah, I was jealous. Who wouldn't be 🤣.

Bob Seger is one of music’s all-time great storytellers. This one, Night Moves, Mainstreet, Hollywood Nights… and of course the great classic, Old Time Rock & Roll. And combined with Alto Reed’s sax, they’re hard to beat. (Also the guitar solo on Like A Rock - bloody hell, that’s a great solo.)

Bob Seger found out he had throat cancer not long after he put out his song against the wind. He was told he’d never sing again. 20+ years later I got to see him in concert on his return tour. It was an amazing concert. At one point he forgot part of one of his songs while playing the piano (solo) and the fans were singing with him. They (we) sang so loud that he just kept playing and let the fans sing his song for him. The crowd never missed a beat or word! It was amazing and he was so overwhelmed by what happened after all those years away that he could hardly speak at the end of the song. One of the best concerts I’ve ever been too. The crowd sang every song with him after that.

Metallica covered this -- Seger's been a star since the 60's -- HUGE catalogue. Old Time Rock and Roll, Main Street, Night Moves, Feel Like a Number, Her Strut... and the woman or man comment was because for nearly all of his early career, Seger wore his hair long and much of conservative America at that time still held the opinion "no son of mine's gonna have long hair"

I grew up listening to Bob Seger, even before he was a super star. I’m from the Detroit area and Seger was a hometown star. Way back then, FM radio was considered “underground radio”. That’s where you’d hear Bob Seger. His first hit song in Detroit, which so many people haven’t even heard of, was called Heavy Music. It was 1967 and I was just 10 years old when I heard it on an older cousin’s radio. I’ll never forget it!!! At 10 years old, I became a hard rock fan!!! It was in 1968 when Seger became more well know with his song Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man. He had some great songs, and one of my favorites in 1979 was called We’ve Got Tonight. Omg, that song makes me cry!!! It’s so good. Check out his catalog. I believe he even wrote for the Eagles.

Many thanks to you, BP, for keeping it real and not monetizing requests/reactions. The number of reactors that I follow has been declining as I watch the same people with limited preferences paying for reactions - noticing the not-so-authentic where money buys reactions that reactors think the people that pay them want. I would much prefer to see a genuine reaction to something regardless of whether I prefer the something being reacted to.

The first time I heard Bob Segar, was mid 70's and he was on Saturday Night Live, performed Night Moves and I was in love. I am 75 years young and Bob Segar is still one of my favorites. Night Moves still gives me goosebumps.

Bob Seger's music was and is always great! Most all his music tells a story. And his voice is just perfect for his music. And his band, the Silver Bullet band are fantastic!

I saw them do this at a stadium concert in the late '70s and they dimmed all the lights on the band except for one spotlight and when those awesome sax notes hit that night air they panned the spot up to the saxophonist standing on top of a speaker stack about 30' above the stage (I know because I built it) and that was one of those moments I will never forget. Hell still gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.

You have to go on the Bob Seger journey . His catalog is legendary. Try "NIGHT MOVES" next it's a Banger. Bob Seger feels every word he sings and you will too.

Please do Roll me away! It’s one of those that hit me in the gut. It’s the first song I heard when my father in law died. We had been taking care of him the last 2 weeks of his life. He was an outlaw biker and this song spoke of his soul.

Back in the day when it became very common for guys to grow their hair out the older or should I say old fashioned folks would say stuff like "is that a woman or a man?" He's singing his frustration at hearing that when he has to slide in somewhere to eat or whatever.

I was in high school and college in the 70s. Many guys, especially in bands, had beautiful, long hair. The girls loved it.

Bob Seger wrote Turn the Page & Like a Rock. Like a Rock was in his 1986 album. 5 yrs later Chevrolet used it in their advertising campaign. You probably heard the music & lyrics on their tv & radio commercials. I just found your channel a few days ago. I just love your interpretations. I always learn something new. Thanks for sharing these songs.
