Let talk about some fact of this lyrics and song. "Tear in this song has two meanings" - For RM, he used the word for physical tears from crying. For Suga, it is the physical tearing when something is ripped. Lastly, for J-Hope, it was the fear of talking after a breakup. "Goodbyes are T.E.A.R" - T.E.A.R means 4 tasks of mourning ; Psychologist J. William Worden provides a framework of four tasks that help us understand how people journey through grief. Btw, I always find it very funny how americans are so focused on the english language. I'm Brazilian, I speak Portuguese and I’ve always listened to songs in other languages. I also speak English and French and a little bit of Italian. But even when I didn’t know all these languages, music for me is always music. Even in Asia, we speak diff. languages depending from w/c province u are. In my country, I speak my town's own distinct language, english as 2nd language, a provincial 3rd language vastly different from my town's own, 4th national language, then 5th language for a different region in the country. I guess this is why we are more open to other language especially if its music.

This! For many ppl English is not their first language, but ppl still listen to English songs. So ppl whose first language is English should also learn to listen songs that are not in English. U can always find the lyrics from the internet.

I’m a native English speaker but I’ve grown up listening to opera and so it’s never occurred to me that there’s an issue with songs not in English. I have definitely noticed a large section of the American audience is very hung up on the language thing. It’s a bit sad😒

I'm an American, but I grew up singing in choruses at church and school and sang in about a dozen languages! Whenever we went on tour, we learned local pieces which is how I've come to sing in Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, four of the official 11 languages of South Africa, Hebrew, Spanish, German, Italian, and French along with the usual Latin in many choral works. It's disheartening to hear that more than just "some Americans" willfully avoid great music because it is not in English. Pretty arrogant, I think. 😔

This song reads like a love song, but was actually written for the members. Suga said he finished writing the song and played it for the other members and they had all broken down listening to it. The live version honestly hits different 🥲

The break up talked of was not because of their relationship gone sour. It was because the thought of disbanding did even occur amongst them for other reasons. The reason was the sh*t they were facing from the kpop industry as well as combined effort of fandoms who attacked every award they got, their come back albums etc They petitioned to their president to ban the award bts got. RM finally talked of these times during the festa this year in June in the Army corner. There is a video where you can listen to him saying their most difficult time lasted till 2017. They were under great stress. Not that it is over now, but they are in a position to not care. There is even a video of their acceptance speech at the award ceremony. Extremely emotional.

I'd just like to add on to this that they were also under immense pressure from their recent success in the US after the Billboard Award, and they were afraid they had hit their peak and couldn't continue to improve upon their previous work. They had just realized they'd be fighting the xenophobic industry in the west. (No one will ever convince me the primary reason RM changed his name wasn't because of the reaction "Rap Monster" got in the US. One really bad female interviewer in particular, who laughed and asked if it was his real name, stands out to me. The look on RMs face was devastating to ARMYs, and he changed his name not long after that interview.) So, their success in the west brought additional criticism from the Western music industry, different challenges, and unbearable pressure to succeed. They were afraid of the criticism they would get if they failed to stay on top or continue to succeed in the US.

About rapping languages... I actually prefer Korean rap to English even though I don't know Korean. Can't put my finger on why. Korean syllables suit rap so well - the shapes and patterns and sounds of them. I fully admit, I never liked rap before finding BTS - even with this song, I was drawn to it repeatedly by the opening instrumentals but then couldn't get past the first aggressive verse; but when I finally listened to the whole thing, it became one of my favorites! The instrumentals throughout give it even more depth and emotion. RM, Suga and J-Hope have such distinct rapping styles and unique voices (the actual timbre of their voices). Rap tends to sound monotone and flat to me, but with these three I get the emotion and the poetry and, most importantly, the authenticity. I love the chill rap verses in their song "Rain" (from the Dark & Wild album) - full group song with all seven, from 2014. If you haven't listened to that one, please do (lyric video).

Thanks for the reaction, I'd like to say: "If you don't like rap in a different language" --- you don't like rap. Sure lyrics are important, but you can read them AND feel them as they are "rapped". I am NOT a native English speaker, I still listened to music in English since I was born. Let's not be lazy and agree with sh*t mentality. Running in to this rap song saved my life. We all go through hard ships in life but some are harder than others. Running across Outro Tear right when I need to hear each and every word to this song. I couldn't help but laugh when you said the song sounded sad at the beginning. This is my absolute favorite song by them. So I was just waiting for you to find out. Namjoon is the most fluent in English cause when he was young, he taught himself by watching 'friends', the show. Jungkook is pretty good along with Yoongi. The others are picking up on it very well.

Just sitting here waiting for you to hear Hobi's last part where he brings it home, hard. You gotta see the live version. The emotion he brings. You can tell the near breakup really effected him alot. Especally at the MAMA awards during their acceptance speech. Talking about how they almost broke up. I dare you not to tear up too.
