I think that kind, caring spirit that you mention is one of the things that make her so great at what she does. That spirit bleeds into her singing. She connects to the music differently because she seems to be connected to the universe in a little different way than the average person. She has an empathy for others that allows her to feel a song... and as a result, we feel it. BTW, whenever people wonder why I always request that they use headphones to listen to Angelina, I am going to direct them to listen to 15 seconds or so at 1:52 of this video... that's the difference between laptop speakers and headphones ;)

I had to view a couple of clips of Shirley Bassey performing two songs just to be sure...but I totally felt her vibe in this performance by Angelina. There is so much that comes out when she sings any song, it's all her, of course...but she's like a fine wine, with various notes of different fruits that make up its composition. In Angelina's case, there are so many remarkable voices that seem to be rolled into her one. In a few words, so very unique and amazing. Your Angelina reactions, particularly the commentaries, are my favorite videos of yours!

Every time hearing Angelina IS like the first time. She's something of a vocal chameleon, with a whole range of colors and tones she uses to bring just the right voice to each individual song. As you keep listening to her songs (and I can tell you're ready to join Angelina Anonymous) sometimes you'll hear influences of Billie Holiday, sometimes Ella Fitzgerald, sometimes Amy Winehouse or Norah Jones. You as a rapper can learn something: Angelina is performing for one person with a camera but she is in tune with the spirit of the song all the time. She uses her hands to perform the song with more feeling. Also, Angelina is always trying new things. You as a rapper might want to try to add things to your performance... do some "experiments"... sing songs like nobody else have done before you, keep your fans in their toes :)

Everybody (Angels included) are beginning to get on the "I'm still holding out for you" bandwagon. This song is BIG!! Someone close to the family with some clout should talk them into reconsidering recording this song. It would go Platinum sell millions of copies, and assure Angelina that the whole planet would recognize this girls genius. When she was 7 years old backstage at norways got talent she made the statement on camera "When I grow up I want to be a SUPER STAR. We Angels already know she is a super star to us, but she needs a "Break Out" song for the mainstream media to find her. This song could also be used as a Posterchild against suicide. Young people all over the world love, and respect Angelina. If she were to go public once this song came out, and say "Suicide is wrong" I bet it would save countless lives, and make Angelina a different kind of Angel. A Angel of Love, and compassion.

Yep, so often people simply stop and listen quietly to her, no interruptions. And for whatever reason, she elicits trust, let down your guard and float on that voice. She's like the Greek Sirens but bringing you to safe harbor, not crashing into the rocks. I am going to be curious to see how she deals with rap. She is so curious and so creative that she will bump up against it to learn and enjoy. Rap is so much about words over 'voice' while she is more about voice over words (voice meaning sound, singing as instrument). You want an education, listen to 'Body and Soul' as done by 5 people- Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Coleman Hawkins (1939) and John Coltrane (1960). She's rolling them all into one and about to move it forward. I wonder if she'll pull from Billie Holiday 'Strange Fruit' and from Gil Scott-Heron?

This is in my top 10 Angelina performances. It was one of, if not the, most popular Lana Del Rey songs---almost half a Billion views on KZbin, and it reached #9 on the pop chart. It is a very difficult song to sing, and others that have tried have fallen short. Then there's this cover by Angelina. WOW!! Many believe, and I'm one, that it is better than the original. But that's just common place for the "girl with a thousand voices". She does it over and over again---sings the song better than the original artist. Hi, I'm no vocal coach or anything, but I've got a good ear, despite my age. You're so much indulged in hip hop music that you never considered any other type of music. Yet, seeing your reactions to A.J., I can tell that if you tried something different, you might have more success than singing hip hop. Singing is not so much a matter of how loud you can sing or how much you can hold your breath, but it's more like hitting the right note & giving it the texture it requires. It's a feeling more than a matter of strength & power. Maybe Freddy Mercury gave most singers that impression, but A.J showed to the world that it is different. It's more a quesstion of how you feel rather than how you sing. That long flow of text in hip hop doesn't suit your emotional depth as a performer. It works for a guy like Eminem because the lyrics are deeply felt by him due to lived experiences, things he has been through in real life. So my advice to you is to re-discover your voice & see if it conveys certain emotions. You're carried away by the trend, but is it the real YOU?
