Eminem said in an interview "When people say I never had content I'm like" What are you talking about? What do you want me to talk about? What the hell is content to you?. I wrote about every thing on the face of the earth " He is totally right. He literally has songs about depression. Society flaws. Loneliness. Parenthood. Childhood trauma. Love this song. I grew up with a similar childhood situation as Em- not as extreme, but single mom on drugs, changing schools a bunch, no money, and a lot of feeling of shame and embarrasment. You did a great job with your analysis of his bars, syllabic complexity, delivery, and decyphering the meaning behind his powerful lyrics. Well done 🤙🏼

I still have the bullet that misfired while holding my dads 40 to my head… it’s a reminder to me that there’s a higher power that blatantly told me I have a purpose and that wasn’t my time. Now I have 3 beautiful children that never want or hunger like I did and a great job I love. I should get rid of it because it’s a reminder of the loudest click I’ve ever heard in my life. But I like to have it as a trophy for myself to smile now knowing I clawed my way out of rock bottom and am providing a better life to myself and my children that want for nothing. Couldn’t do that with lead in the head. Life is a gift. It’s up to you how you use it. Stay strong. You can make it. Hell I did and I have a morbidly dark past. Thank Knox

JFC... different parts of this song hit me every time. "daughter wants to throw the ball but I'm to stressed to play" it's such an awful feeling. When you're stressed and angry and depressed and you're in that dark void that you feel like it's bottomless. And you want so bad to enjoy quality time with your daughter but you're so damn stressed that you have to say "I'm sorry honey but I'm just too stressed out right now"

I just turned 39 excited for his new album, when this cd was released i was 14/15. I listen to his cd and this song and brain damage caught my attention. It was cool to see how he blew up and still making music yet. This song is my childhood and I’ve been through my life broke and now I’m able to get what I have with a tight budget with just getting by. So true and hard hitting.

There's a 1996 or 1997 demo of rock bottom which he wrote before or after he tried overdosing himself on Tylenol. The instrumental is made by him I believe and is more darker less professional sounding (if that makes sense) and the intro is a bit different with him saying "awwww yeahhh".

"And yesterday went by so quick, it seems like it was just today My daughter wants to throw the ball, but I'm too stressed to play. Live half my life and throw the rest away." I feel so many people misunderstand this. The reason he only lives half his kife and throws the rest away is because the inly thing he can think about is how to get out of the shitty situation he is in and as a result neglects the time he has to spend with his daughter. If he had miney and a stable home he wojt have less stress and more time to enjoy the things he has in life.
