There's a movie called Julie and Julia (2009) where a woman spends an extended period of time to create a every single one of Julia Childs's recipes (524) from her book. Julia Childs joined the OSS (Office of Strategic Services) for the United States during WW2, after finding out she was too tall (at 6'2") to enlist with the WAC (women's army corps) or the Navy's WAVES. Ultimately she was asked to solve a problem of curious sharks setting off underwater explosives, and her solution was ”experimenting with cooking various concoctions" as shark repellents.

Love Fridays with Knox Hill! No one breaks it down better than you. ❤️ BTW, Charcuterie is a French term for a branch of cooking devoted to meat products, such as bacon, ham, sausage, terrines, galantines, ballotines, pâtés, and confit, primarily from pork. Most usually, presented in restaurants on a board. Yum. An amuse Boucher is literally a bite size appetizer. Bouillabaisse is a fish stew. Julia won that one hands down. She was a badass.

Charcuterie is plating cold cooked meats to serve. All of those meats, yes, but specifically serving them cold, on a board.

I do find it amusing that Gordon says "I'm a culinary innovator" while his signature dish, the Beef Wellington, is NOT his creation. At least Julia's whole thing was not she was a creator, she was a more an emissary, bringing French cuisine to the non-French markets. I think Ramsey went a few too many times to the "you're fat/ugly" well. Julia won this one hands done. (Plus she didn't need any help)
@GermanCl17Muffin3 жыл бұрын
I mean, if we're going by repeated disses, she was pretty repetitive as well with most of her lines being about him being an asshole. Personally, my opinion on this battle is as follows: Disses: Gordon wins Flow and Rhyme Schemes: Julia wins.
@RLucas3000 Жыл бұрын
And his other signature dish, his sticky toffee pudding (a MUST try in Vegas if you ever have a chance) was created by his mum (whose teats he was suckling on when Julia created the idea of celebrity chef).
@kase75711 ай бұрын
Most of her disses are untrue, as Gordon is actually pretty chill outside of Hells Kitchen, it was just a part that he played up for the show.

A thing you overlooked (unless you get into it later where I haven't watched yet) is that the "pilots green lit" line has a double meaning. One is for the shows, as you said, but the pilot light is also an element in gas stoves. It's that little sparker (originally a smaller flame) that ignites the main gas flame on the stove.

Ameteur cooks ( celebrities) challenged to pick a dish and go head to head with Gordon making a version. Gets voted on blindly to derermine a winner. Think beat Bobby Flay but there is only 1 contestant. They choose the dish ahead of time. Gordon is not told what they'll prepare until filming starts. But no doubt the ingedients prepared for the show ahead of time so Gordon has a chance.

"Why did we wait so long to do this one?" - exactly my thought for several months. One of my favourite's, and the beat is one of the best in the history of ERB. One line that went uncommented was the "I'm fresh, you're past your expiration date" - that's quite a dark one since she's literally expired. Now, if you do Gates vs Jobs next friday it would be the best end to my vaccation that I could hope for (and after that, Newton vs Nye). Both tohse are well in the catogry of "Why did we wait so long to do this one?".
