Yes, but also no. Usually Riot start working on the new cinematic pretty much right after the previous worlds video releases, but my bet is they were on a tight schedule this time. At least in my mind it explains the slight “incompleteness” of the cinematic, usually they put in a lot more esports storytelling than in this one. Last year’s video was 100% about Deft, this one was supposed to be a full Faker tribute, and it KINDA is, but also Faker literally has less screen time than Emily in this one (which made all the Korean T1 fans lose their minds). I think if they knew a bit more in advance, they’d have time to make it more League-oriented instead of LP-oriented.

Like, we get that Faker is the king, but also, he literally does nothing in the video except looking cool. Compared to how they treated him in, for example, Rise cinematic, when he fought Ambition in the final battle, he’s literally barely there. I love the end result, but I also am not a League and esports fan, I’m in it for the lore. And I can completely understand, why the asians are more upset about this one.

The more I listen to this song the more I realize a few things but the main one is the parallel between Faker, the player who came down the stairs and took off his cape, the one considered the best in the world, a king who has his crown, and the contrast between the singer who now has Chester's crown, he left the crown when he left and it is she who can now feel the weight of that crown, the weight that Chester had is damn beautiful.

As an outsider, this Music Video is great. It carries both the message of T1 and the increasingly greater legacy that they have to live up to as well as the reignition of the band with emily who has to carry the "heavy crown" that Chester left behind. It functionally works as an amazing Linkin Park music video, but that's what a lot of league fans are unhappy with unfortunately. This was supposed to be a worlds music video in their eyes that should have showed the players and carried the weight of their stories more, which I completely understand.

Thanks for coming out so real, you made me cry. Im sure Chester is in fact looking at the band and being proud of them moving on and keep on making great music. I'm personally grateful, its 2024 and we are listening to Linkin Park, we have a tour going on, a new album and the band, specially Mike, are looking very happy. Need nothing more. People need to accept that it's thier band and they can do what they want with it. At the end of the day they were ALL linkin park and i think it's admirable that they are trying to continue on in spite of tragedy and fan backlash

I was at the concert in Hamburg where they played that song first time live, and I can tell, that they also nailed that song in the live environment, Emily even did the long scream at same length without issues. The entire concert was really awesome, I‘ve never encountered such connection and spirit between band and audience before. Of course, rest in peace Chester, the band is doing a great job in not trying to replace him. During the entire concert you felt that he has still his place on stage, which gets filled with the spirit from the audience, while Emily co-exists and simply takes in a new role. Really looking forward into the bright future of Linkin Park. 10/10

It's like a breath of fresh air seeing someone truly enjoying the music and appreciating all that the band has done in the past including the new stuff and the new direction they've chosen with Emily. You're the first reactor I find that gets it, when Mike told in the interview with Apple how they just had to continue the band when they produced new music with Emily and Colin. I'm a 30 year old dude and for 2 years I've been dealing with some bad and good cards life decided to deal me. The comeback of Linkin Park coincides with me getting to a point where I have to deal with all the emotional instability and depressive thoughts seriously, because I'm not able to enjoy the good things that have been given and happened to me over the years. Funny is how life constantly gives you things to deal with in parallels and coincidences. During my teenage years I was also in a tough spot and during that time I discovered Linkin Park and their music helped me felt understood what I was dealing with. They were my therapy. People could call it a coincidence the comeback of Linkin Park comes together with my personal situation, I am not a person that likes to talk about fate, but sometimes there are these random moments where some random things come together and you just can't happen to think fate is something real. I am sure Chester is watching his family and is smiling, just like you said.

the consensus from the league community is that there is way too much random LP shots in the cinematic given that it's a WORLDS song, even more from the korean side since LP is basically nobodies to them : most people are mad LP is taking screentime away from the undisputed GOD of the game and Korea. personnally i like it a lot so i think it's fine

really? this is freaking linkin park. if anyone deserves the spotlight it's them. not to mention that using them accentuates the moments and music in the trailer. like the shot of emily screaming with impact frames. take that scene out and it wouldn't hit as much as it is

To make it clear, screen time is not the main problem here. It is more like that league fans have expected special tribute MV for Faker, which he hasn’t got yet, and RIOT perfectly ruined all the fans’ hope about it. In terms of the song itself, not much people actually blame about it. Even Koreans don’t hate Linkin Park for the song. What they really are mad at is RIOT Games, who made all the hype about T1 and Faker beating all LPL teams in last tournament, but then suddenly throwing a new Worlds Anthem MV which is not even remotely related to the previous Worlds. So yeah, the music goes hard. LP rocks. The MV sucks.

the MV would work if it wasn't a Worlds MV tbh. Personally I love this song. The issue of the MV from the discussions is that the representation of the pro players aren't enough and there is too much focus on LP. There's also the controversy of the models of the Asian players not looking good, while the Western players like Caps and the Linkin Park band look good. Also if u look at the comments in the MV, a lot of Koreans REALLY dislike this song and see it as racist. The question here is who decided the direction of the MV, Linkin Park or Riot themselves? TBH. Riot fumbled with this MV as their biggest market in League are the Koreans and Chinese, so seeing them not only disliking this Worlds MV, but also seeing it as racist is not looking good for them. If you give me my own take, if it's just a standard League X LP crossover, I think no one would bat an eye. However, this is Worlds we're talking about. It's about the pro players and the stories made within the tournament, so representing them for the Worlds MV is crucial. I will say that not all World MVs are great; a lot of them are alright for me, but I can agree that one of the best ones is RISE ( and I 100% agree with that) Sorry for the long yap text. It's interesting to me how much backlash there is with this MV, so I'm trying to look at this situation not only as a big League of Legends fan, but also as a massive Linkin Park fan, too.
