You got this! Don't give up. Let Tom and the whole HoG family build you up to let you know you are not alone. I don't know you but I know you. I don't have cancer but eh I haven't had a physical in 4.5 years and my health has changed. Only 30 but family man, stressed, can't sleep hardly. Had bury my dog of 15 years who had tumors and cancer, missed funeral for grandpa cause he passed while I was in boot camp, mother in law just diagnosed with breast cancer, also found in lymphnodes.. I work in medical and the one thing I can't explain is how the sheer Will to live overcomes all western medicine methodology. I hope you take care 🙂 I hope this helps. Peace

Hey Knox. We lost our son a few years ago so I feel your pain intrinsically. He had a LOT of really good friends and it does give me comfort to know that he knew so much love in his life. More than a hundred showed up for his funeral. Another hundred couldn't make it, so they showed up on line. And I promise you that it gets better. I had a dear friend who lived in NYC. He'd already known so much tragedy from the culling of the gay community in the 80's and 90's. Then he lost half a dozen more when the towers fell. All the phone lines jammed up, so I couldn't get to him for days. When I finally got through I was surprised at how calm he was at that moment. He had just told me the names of the lost and I was bawling on the phone when I asked him how he was holding up so well. He told me that he hurt. But he'd come to recognize grief as a profound privilege. When you hurt THAT bad over the loss of a loved one, that illustrates how much you loved. You come to really value the people in your life. "Grief is a gift. It means that you were SO damn lucky to have loved and to have been loved in this life and those things are rare and precious." When our son died there was one moment when I considered everything that I'd sacrificed for my family. My education. My career. My time, money, and devotion. For just a moment, I thought, "What a waste." A second later that was wiped out by that conversation with my friend in NYC. No. It was FAR from a waste. That boy gave me SO much in return. He made me stronger, smarter, BETTER than I ever would have been without him. He was a good person. His sense of humor alone made him valuable. But throw in his generosity, his willingness to sacrifice himself for others, and his bravery and that goes way past 'good person' territory. He was definitely worth knowing. Definitely worth my time and everything else I gave him. Because of these things, I embraced my grief as a gift. And that helped me regain my sanity as I healed. It gets better. I promise.

My daughter got cancer at nineteen. She was such a freaking MONSTER and punched back like a beast. I held her through the surgery, but she took the reins after that. She set her jaw and drove herself to all of the weekly treatments and all of the tests by herself. She hit a low spot where she was so damn sick, and she blew monsters away in video games and kept fighting. Her mental health hit a low and she let me step in and back her up for awhile, then she found her feet again and got back in it. Five years later she had a toddler and had another serious cancer scare. The tumor was removed and we had to wait a week for the verdict. The most beautiful word in the English language. "Benign."

Reach out for help dude... whether it’s family a friend or a medical professional... it doesn’t matter... you need to take the first step and admit to another human being that you need help. You need to look them dead in the eye and ask for it, and you need to want it. Something similar happened to a buddy of mine years ago, except she was also pregnant with his first child... he lost both at the same time. He struggles to this day almost a decade later. He was in really bad shape... for years, but he slowly.... came to terms with his situation? I don’t want to call it “better”, I don’t believe it would be accurate to say “he is better now”, but it was for sure a positive step for him... All I know is he asked for the help, and it has helped him keep going at the very least. I can’t even imagine bro.... I can’t even picture it in my mind to even sit here and pretend like I have the slightest clue.... so I’ll tell you what I told my buddy all those years ago. “May the lord give you strength”

What an amazing song… Side-by-side with such a visceral, genuine, heartfelt reaction. Of all of the reactors to people like Tom Macdonald, you have the most level-headed responses and enough self-awareness to see his perspective whether you agree or disagree with his points. This song, combined with your reaction, hit me hard enough to almost cry at my desk at work. As someone who knows how to control his emotions quite well, the fact that I almost lost that during this song is one of the biggest compliments I can give. I’ve never lost someone close to me to cancer, but I have lost family both literally over night, and through a long, painful process that we only saw get worse and worse over several years. Cancer can do both of those to almost anyone at any time, and many times without warning. I can’t really say anything Tom, Knox, and a million other people haven’t already said, so I guess I’ll say to everyone: Stay as healthy as you can for as long as you can. Love the family you have and keep them close. Be strong and keep hope, because the second you lose hope, you lose the fight. You all have fight in you, so use it to become a better you and fight off every obstacle that gets in your way.

@@user-fz4ic5iu6u I personally believe there is s cure. Most things that have been proven to kill cancer cells with significantly less side effects and are more cost affective, are still illegal in most areas. The only part of that line I'll disagree with, is "they're refusing to make it". It's already been made/found. This is what should be on the radio. Today's popular music may be fun to listen and help you distract yourself from the world around you, but is it actually enough to just close your eyes and pretend that if you don't see the problem it doesn't exist and won't touch you? It's a good thing that minorities gained a foothold in society where their problems are recognized as more than 'something you'll glow out of' and that's a good first step, but among those minor groups, there are those less vocal. It's important to look at different aspects of life not only through a magnifying glass, but as a whole as well

I'm sorry for your loss. I know losing someone you love makes you feel like you're stuck between a rock and a hard place. Also, was not expecting Tom MacDonald himself to comment on this. Judging from what he said about this reaction, that's a real compliment. I'll be praying for you, Knox Hill. Love you both!

I watched my oldest sister lose her only son to cancer back in 2015. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to see. And just recently I found out my uncle, and my boyfriend sister has cancer too. Tom, you are an inspiration 💖💖

At least one of us made it through the song without crying on their first listen. I was at work on my lunch break when I seen the video in my notifications and I couldn't even make it halfway through before I start bawling my eyes out. My grandma passed away 6 years ago due to Leukemia and other issues & complications. I thought I was strong enough and past all the emotions since it was such a long time ago but I couldn't hold it in. RIP Grandma Kay🙏 Sorry for your loss Knox. 106 years is quite the lifetime. I hope it was filled with great memories, stories and experiences.

Phew ! Poignant, powerful and a wonderfully sensitive break down by Mr Knox... Got a big lump in my throat thinking of the painful loss and longing that losing our loved ones brings. It never goes away folks, you just get used to it in a few years time, but the love and longing never stops. Peace, and thank you for another journey into the heart of a song, in your good company xxx

I have been looking at your stuff for awhile, and your music analysis is so so amazing! Much better than others I've been seeing. Especially the understanding how music is composed, made, knowing words actually have meaning and effective on different styles of delivery, noticing the instrumentals tying into the song with the words to make a bigger picture, and much more. I hope you will continue to be this detailed into the future. It really helps me, and probably many others, understand more how to compose and write music overall. Music reactors, like yourself that is also a musically creative person, understand not only this type of music (I've been in a bad relationship with lots of non-meaningful rappers but now beginning to understand more in-depth lyrical and beat wise and creative process with Hip-Hop and Rap) but analyzing towards other types of music down the road, possibly. Keep doing what you are doing, and we loyal fans of yours will continue to comeback for more. Tom MacDonald is definitely one of the most influential rapper, in my opinion, that is in the game but more importantly could reach your creative exposure independently without being tied to a label with the hard work we put into our own works. Stay fresh and safe Knox Hill we appreciate what you make and do. Much love and respect. Blessed be.

I've lost a few to cancer, but I've mainly had to deal with ALS. Both are terrible to have to watch, knowing there's nothing you can really do to help, outside of trying help your loved one stay comfortable Stay strong brother. They may not be us physically, but they are still with spiritually

The one person in my life who never took a single thing for granted and would give anyone the time of day. Didn’t even own a watch much less a phone. He was someone who believed in real human connection and family be it your own or one you make for yourself, my Dad. He was the 1 in 4 that got cancer I held his hand and hugged him as his passed. My dad was my best friend. The way in which he treated other ppl , never complained, made me laugh and loved me was, I don’t have words to describe exactly how special it was. People tell me I’m so much like him and I take it as the highest compliment. I also lost my son at 38 weeks pregnant 3 months to the day after losing dad. It was a fight that I didn’t think I would survive. I’m just so grateful that I out of everyone on earth got to have him as my dad. Also if only for a time that was way too short got to feel my son move inside my bump and already have all the love in the world for him. I still feel so blessed as I know some poor people don’t get to experience either of those things. Wounded but so very blessed. Their fires will forever be alive inside my heart.

I'm so sorry for your loss. This song got to me too. I have lost friends and family members to cancer. But what affected me the most about this was going through the scariest thing in my life when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is a breast cancer survivor now but I was terrified of losing my mom. This song hit me really hard. I cried during my reaction.

I can't think about cancer without tearing up. I lost someone that treated me like a father when I was 7. That was almost 10 years ago, and it still effects me today. It's hard to think about how I reacted, too, when I was losing him, because no matter how much I saw him in the hospital, no matter how much I saw him fighting to survive, hell, even when I went to his funeral, it was hard to realize and accept that someone that cared for me and I cared back had died of cancer. Ever since I finally realized it a couple years later, I felt nothing but guilt every time I think about it.

My sons friend has been fighting cancer for a year and just got put back in the hospital. He is 18 and I pray that he recovers. If I could take it from him and make him healthy I would. I dont know if he is trying to fight it but scared he is giving up. Saddest thing in the world to watch a healthy teenager lose hair and weight and have a pick line hanging out of his chest. This song makes my eyes leak everytime. Thanks for this honest and thought provoking songs. The best at getting your emotions with words and visuals this video is hard to watch. Man you are human and your obviously a good person to react the way you did. Respect to you
