In my personal opinion I feel like Tom is showing major respect to NF. 1. Balloon symbolism 2. Wastelandscape in the vid 3. Wearing all black 4. Talking about Mental Health And something flying under a lot of radars of a lot of reactors... 5. he didn't curse the entire song which is very uncommon for Tom.

I love both tom an nf but idk. Does that mean nf is paying respect to bands like creed? Alot of their videos have this same look to it. He could just be using it because he's depressed...an a black balloon is the symbol of depression an has been for ever...

Ty I was gonna make a whole list of the things that were similar to nf including the cadences he did....nf has songs where he cries and shows vulnerability.... soooooo many things...at first I thought it was a dig until I listened to it a few times.... I honestly think nf started a trend with the black balloon being a symbol for depression.... and I'm really hoping for a collaboration 🙏🤞

I'm a fan of Tom, NF and Knox but Knox is off a bit with his assessment here! So now ANYONE who use's a single Black Balloon in their video is paying homage to a NF who's a good rapper but NOT a legend? Tom is NOT paying homage to just another rapper bro! NF is not some legendary rapper! This song and music video is about Tom's mind and Tom is the Balloon and has NOTHING to do with NF who carries his "BURDENS" with him but has he's never explained what they all are! Black Balloons, Clouds or face paint have been used in music videos for 30 years before NF!🤦♂

Tom's songs like this speak to what alot of us struggle with. As a veteran I felt alot of these same feelings when I returned from Iraq. Depression, anxiety, fear, and anger. It can crush you. It's amazing that this song translates to my experience. True art does that.

In Balloons, Tom is venting about the war he is waging inside himself against the double-edged sword of fame and the feeling that what he is doing is crucial for humanity. Tom goes to war against the machine because he's built for it, conditioned for it. He embraces it knowing full well there's a toll to pay. Cause & effect, man. This is the effect. A wracking pain that would destroy someone who isn't built the way Tom is. A toll he willingly pays not only for the fame he hungers for but for being allowed to champion for us. This song wrecks us because of Tom's ability to weave a spell with words so painful we can't help but understand how much of himself he's willing to give for humanity..

Love this song because he can show the darker, harder side of fame which many don't or won't and we all saw where many of them ended up. He doesn't want or need anyone's pity, just understanding that yeah it gets hard and it's okay to share because he has been suffering from anxiety and depression for so many years. Listen, to all those who are fed up of his songs then don't listen or comment negatively, just go take a long look at yourself and move on. I don't listen to singers I don't like nor do I click on hater reactors. Yeah certain topics will overlap from one artist to another and they might get same ideas especially those who have gone through a lot of negativity in their lives. It's hard for some not to compare but I HATE comparisons. Each artist brings their own creativity and talent. You can see right through imitators and they don't last so I could go on but I'll end by THANKING YOU for sharing and your reaction.

Based on the live chat and even the comments down below, I guess Tom is right. The hate might outweigh the love. It's weird as hell to me though. When I don't like an artist, I don't watch reaction videos of that person. I don't spend time writing negative comments about that person either. I never want to be the one who messes up someone's day with my negativity. Especially if I do not know him. What if my comment is the one that pushes that person over the edge, and I have no way to make amends? Is it really that hard to see that Tom is a human just like you? Why wouldn't he write a song about how he feels to share with his fans that want to hear it? Haters really show such an ugly side of this life. If you think Tom sucks so much, move on, listen to your favorite artist, and/or create something beautiful yourself that you think people might want to hear.
