Hes not just a martial artist he is a Fighter as well. FOR EXAMPLE Marvin Vettori is so tough and gives people a run for their money not because of skill but his heart. He fights but comes up short because he lacks martial art skills. du Plessis has what Marvin has and he is a martial artist. Well rounded. A dog. Aggressive. Dont get tired. Israels toughest fight was Kevin Gastelum. Kevin was too little but he fought Israel. du Plessis is a much bigger and stronger Kevin Gastelum but with more weapons and crazy cardio. Exactly. It's like how fighters for so long were told to keep their hands up. Then all the sudden we got guys coming in with hands down and everyone assumed they'll get slept. Come to find out they're aware of what they're doing and they're setting traps just to counter them when they take the bait. I have seen a lot of analysis on this fight but Rock has seen what DDR is about. That he is first and foremost a fighter and then the other attributes. He said DDR has cardio which has proven to be correct after the nose fix. Before that anyone who can only breath through his nose will look gassed. Rock saw it for what it was. Let me preface by saying I have been won over by DDP’s class in the way he handled his last fight from pre-fight to post interviews and the way he fought Whittaker. I am now a DDP fan. That being said, Israel is the best striker in the UFC. His strikes are usually well timed, accurate, and damn hard. DDP could easily get caught and when dazed the fight could go Izzy’s way in a hurry. Can’t wait to see what happens.

Agreed, just pointing out that DDP has a black belt in Kickboxing (Karate). Rob’s 0-3 against guys that like him have a karate background (Wonderboy, Izzy (his kickboxing coach has a taekwondo and karate background) and DDP.). dricus is a tank with a unorthodox style and power, that's a difficult opponent for anybody to deal with. he made whittaker look like he didn't belong in there with him, much bigger and stronger. he will give izzy lot of problems on the ground, dricus can definitely defeat izzy by submission if he sticks to the ground game

Izzy is a counter striker. He loves fighters that rush and are aggressive. But duplesis coaches seem to know what they are doing. He would probably try to be patient which is also dangerous, meaning he can be taken apart from distance. Grappling is his best chance.

I feel you. Dricus has a similar style to Gastelum in the way he dogs people down and pressures them slowly until he gets a chance to explode. The whole strategy against Rob was to pressure him up against the cage and make him commit and punish him and it worked great. Adesanya hates being pressed like that and loses his composure a bit when people dog him down like that. Happened with Gastelum, Happened with Jan, happened with the first Alex fight. If Dricus presses him like that but doesn't chase him or over commit then one mistake from Izzy might be all it takes. Dricus looks like a freak and he's strong as hell and fights unorthodox. It's gonna be a hard fight but I think Dricus does have a chance. He's damn brutal on the offence and doesn't let up on the pace. Adesanya coming in emotionally charged and full of hate ain't good either. He's best when focused. Being too emotional might cost him that mistake that gets him taken down and gorilla smashed by Dricus

​@HellBlazerMNE07I listened to Dricus' corner the whole fight. They constantly told him to "maak hom toe" which means close him down. Dricus didn't blitz forward like he usually does. His corner told him to press Rob but don't chase him. Only after Rob got hurt they told him "voorentoe voorentoe" which means go forward. They shut down his movement first and then applied the rest. Isreal hates it when people cut off his movement like that. Everyone who's done it has gotten under his skin. So they can build around that again. If DDP chases Adesanya he will lose 100%. He just needs to pressure him with high volume and close him off then his options open up. He can't risk getting counter struck by Isreal.

Yeah but Vittori tried that and couldn't achieve anything when he finally got him down. Izzy's pretty cagey and very difficult to take down. Also, if Dricus lunges for takedowns he has to look out for precise counter strikes. I think you guys are oversimplifying it, especially when you look at Izzy's record against true ground specialists. But let's hope it's an exciting even match.

Bruh I can't believe someone else finally says what I've been saying for years. By all means the skills are important, but those factors MATTER. I don't care how picture perfect you look throwing punches, I care if you find a way to bring the fight to the opponent and beat them down. Some of these guys can throw cleaner looking strikes, and know all the technical aspects better than everyone else, that doesn't mean they're gunna win. Rob is by far a better overall martial artist than Izzy, but he still couldn't beat him. Izzy is the cleaner technical striker compared to Alex, but he still lost 3/4 regardless of if his fangirls think the chinese fighter got robbed by the chinese judges in their first fight (spoiler alert, he didn't, that's just due to how kickboxing matches are scored). People are constantly losing to people that on paper they should beat. It sometimes just comes down to who wants it more and is more aggressive in trying to get it.

I like that you differentiate between an MMA martial artist and a fighter. You can be both and DDP seems like that to me. I like Justin Gaethje for the same reason. He is not going away until you put his lights out and that's getting harder to do lately.

This fight will play out like Izzy vs Vetorri, but Dricus is MUCH better and stronger than Vetorri with more pressure. If Izzy doesn't stay long and stop him early with his striking, and Dricus gets a hold of him in the clinch/gets him to the ground it could spell trouble for Adesanya.
