This may sound counter intuitive but this may be a rare case where this is actually for the best. 10 means that if he’s on good behavior he can likely be out in 5-7 (plus she already credited him for time served) and by then the whole beef may already be over/his Opps dead. This honestly like increased his chance of living to an old age. He’ll be out by the time he’s 30. Plenty of life to live after that

Idk what state that is, but he getting 10 years for having a firearm? Was he a felon? Young black men need to stop thinking the criminal life is cool. I get that you may be forced into it due to your circumstances, but there's other ways.. I used to sell drugs and shit, but that shit would always go sideways. I had a son to feed, so I just started being realistic. I went to college and got a degree in finance.. now I have a 85k job and potential to earn over 100k in a few years.. luckily no felonies so I can buy as many guns as I want. There are other cool ways to live than to just be thuggin'. I hope other young black men like me can find a better way. The younger you are the better it is to get started.

. For crimes committed on or after October 1, 1995, inmates are required to serve 85% of each sentence imposed. Satisfaction of 85% includes time served in the county jail as credited by the sentencing court. These inmates are eligible to earn up to 10 days per month incentive gain time. This gain time is earned until the tentative release date reaches the date equal to 85% of the sentence imposed. At that point, gain time no longer is applied to reduce the sentence. For example, at a rate of ten days per month you can earn approximately 913 days of gain time while in service of a ten year sentence. However, due to the requirement that at least 85% of the sentence must be served, only 548 days, or 1 and 1⁄2 years, could apply to the release date.”

Funny how you have to make it a race thing. He's a gang leader who's been caught with guns twice and got off very lenient both times. He's also violated his conditions on numerous occasions. He clearly has no respect for the law and hasn't learned his lesson. Of course they hit him hard this time it has nothing to do with his skin color they did it cause he's an idiot gang banging thug who hasn't learned from the chances he's been given. Back to the white boy thing, they gave his "white boy" co-accused 7 years for the same thing. The 3 years difference was cause he didn't have the same prior gun charges. So yeah they would've given a "white boy" the same thing and the judge did do him a favor. Probably saved his life with the path he was heading down. Stop blaming everything on race. He chose to be a gang leader gun toting thug and there's consequences for that. You people always play the victim or race card rather than see reality.
