1:47: This scene where they brag about their wounds was always particularly funny to me because I first saw this movie in 2003, right when 50 Cent had started the trend where rappers would brag on record about how many times they'd been shot. Nearly a decade before 50 blew up, "Fear of a Black Hat" anticipated this trend and had already mocked it. Whenever my idiot friends would tell me how "real" Fiddy was because he'd been shot 9 times, I'd be like, "What is this? Fear of a Black Hat?"

It's been a trend in rap way before 50 cent. 2pac did it a lot. They didn't 'anticipate' anything, they went off what was already relevant in hiphop/gangsta rap culture.

@@t.h8919 Yeah, you're right that it wasn't completely unheard of, even back in 1994, though I did feel like 50 Cent played up his gunshot wounds as the source of his street cred more than any other previous rapper (2Pac included). Side note: Pac's shooting at Quad Studios in NYC actually took place after this movie came out, so I doubt it was that incident which influenced this movie.

The photos from the yearbook are priceless along with William "Chip" Spencer's statement: "Let us love one another and live in harmony". Preppy in the extreme and as far away from being a gangsta that you can get. . Extremely funny movie that still holds up (I saw it in the cinema when it first came out). One reason is the denseness of comedy content and attention to small details, like the rapper in the yearbook with the nickname "Chip". Brilliant stuff.
