I always felt like this is the closest we will get to a black version of Goodfellas. This scene has the long take of Caine walking through the party like Henry Hill walking through the restaurant. You also have things like O-Dog being the violent trigger happy psychopath very much a parallel to Joe Pesci's Tommy, the introduction of each friend of the groups, the opening scenes being catalysts to the story, the mixture of stylized filmmaking and gritty realism, the consequences of violence right down to the voice over narrations of the protagonists.

Whats crazy is that O dog was playing a 16 year old teenager in this movie...the way he killed and acted made him seem much older
@RDoubt962 жыл бұрын
Yea I didn't learn that O Dogg's character was a juvenile until years later when I caught that scene in jail where Caine mentioned it. I always assumed he was in his 20's.

@@novusordoseclorum1915 What was that gonna do? He was dead as soon as they pulled him out the car and he was twitching. They had their hands full with trying to keep Caine alive. As fucked up as it is, that's what they had to do. That's why Sharif stayed with him.

CEEFRESH4466 he was cast to play O dog
@leondreamcast4 жыл бұрын
Bobby Johnson no he wasn’t PAC was cast as Sharif, O-Dog wasn’t even cast yet at the time, the Hughes Brother had only cast Ronnie, Caine, and Sharif and a few others. That was what happened Pac wanted more depth for Sharif and that’s where the issues started. Go look at Tyrin Turner Vlad tv interview, he discusses the entire issue even at rehearsal
