Yup. This right here. Like obviously everyone can wear what they want, but we'd always chuckle when we'd see people showing up to metal concerts with brand-new shirts of the band playing. Most of metal singers can do just one type of vocals, being able to do many vocal styles, including shifting between clean and harsh vocals, may be relatively common among popular bands today, but overall it's definitely not a common thing. That's one of the reasons why nu-metal became so big: it was way too uncommon at that day, while almost every big nu-metal band had a highly talented singers.

the crazy thing about gojira is they play in D tunning so down 1 from E, and they use 6 strings, i think they even use C tuning if im not mistaken, and they get some of the heaviest riffs in heavy metal. Where a lot of these more modern bands of different genres like death core, technical death metal, grindcore or whatever they start using 7 and 8 string guitars and drop it down to B or whatever those guitars go to. But even with those strings dropped so much gojira just does something that cant be matched, theyre heavy, theyre technical.. groovy i think theyre one of the best bands of all time, a lot of epople will have their own opinion thats fine.. but to me gojira is there as one of the best.

Hi ! about singing technics (as simple as possible): talking needs your vocal cords, just like "clear singing" while guturals and stuff use much more "false cords", whitch are higher in the throat. It needs different practice but it's possible to speak with guturals and other technics. People can have good clear singing technic and not be abble to do guturals, just like the opposite. BUT a good "gutural" singer need to practice his vocal cords to improve safely and efficently. A metalcore singer uses both, in the same time, with different degrees of air compression. Anyway, everyone has his own voice, range and singing signature.

Not wearing the shirt of the band you’re going to see has been engrained in my brain for so long that I STILL think about it. But that’s an outdated rule, I’ve learned. I still wear a different shirt because I like advertising other bands. I typically wear Ne Obliviscaris, Leprous, Zeal & Ardor, and Dillinger Escape Plan shirts (because I’ve never seen any of them live). And yes, there are metal elitists who call people posers. I think that the "matter" in "The Heaviest Matter Of The Universe" can mean both matter as in "stuff", and matter as in "subject". The lyrics are sufficiently vague to allow interpretation. It can be about the physical experience of falling into a black hole. It can be about death in general. Can be both, as you are guaranteed to die in a black hole, or metaphorically imagining death as falling into one.

Yeah, collaborations are a lot less common in Metal. If anything you may get a guest vocal or guest solo (very rarely guest drumming) or sometimes the formation of super groups or on collaboration albums. Some musicians have reached the status of session players being utilized in the studio to record entire albums or jump in live on a tour. But features on regular albums like they're known in other genres are way less common. Probably because the artists take a lot of pride in their compositions and doing everything themselves so the vision remains as pure as possible.
