Noodle is a she. The story with Dare is that Noodle is just pretty much being a kid and dancing around in her room. She is supposed to have written the songs for the Demon Days album, so she's just dancing around having fun in this song.

The original song/lyrics was “it’s There” but it sounded like “it’s Dare” when Shaun Ryder sang it so they stuck with it.

Noodle is a female character, by the way. Also, funny story the head is Shaun Ryder. In the booth he’s adjusting his headset, and he’s telling them to turn it up. “It’s coming up. It’s there.” Is what he said, but he has a thick accent, so it sounds like “Dare” and Gorillaz used the outtake to make the song. Called it “Dare.”

Favorite Gorillaz song!! Such a vibe. My youngest daughter loves them (one of the few she actually likes that I like). The lyrics were pretty much made up on the spot after Ryder started listening to it. He couldn't hear the track so that's the "Its coming up" part. And it was supposed to be "Its there" but Ryders' accent made it sound like "it's dare". They kept it. This was their first hit in the UK. Gotta do "Dirty Harry" or "19-2000" next. ❤️ PS....Noodle is a girl.

So this is just a theory but I do believe the demon days album is about the “Demons of this world”. Meaning problems and issues. The song DARE which is in this album may have a deeper meaning. Pay attention to the lyrics. “You just think it…Hold it down there…Jump with them all…Never did no harm.” This may mean that the protagonist is having an issue with expressing themselves. Leading themselves to believe there is nothing wrong with hiding you true self. In the music video, the other band members do not know Noodle has a secret head in her closet. Which could mean be a deeper meaning that she is hiding herself or part of herself. It is just what I personally believe. Not 100% sure.

Dare is possibly my favourite Gorillaz track. Definitely check out the guest artist Shuan Ryder's other work. His bands "The Happy Mondays" and "Black Grape" both had some absolutely killer tracks. "Loose Fit" has an amazing groove to it.

One of the songs that a lot of people sleep on is "El Mañana". It's one of their more melancholy sounding songs, but still a good one. I kinda view it as a continuation of the "Feels Good Inc" video because it revolves around Noodle on her flying island that was in the video

I believe that the the name of the group is well thought out and it has nothing to do with the characters being "gorillas". Just like a group of birds are called a flock or a group of cattle are called a heard; a group of gorillas are known as a group, hence their name means Group.

Lol the dare program lol. My class was the first year of that program. Class of 2000. I'm old lol. 99% of my classmates never even heard of weed or other drugs until that program. This song has the groove where you can't help but dance. Well I know what band I will be listening to all day today . Also I am celebrating 10 years to the day off the bottle! You haven't known true joy in your life untill you watch the live performances of this song back in the day, where Shaun Ryder is inebriated and making the girl who does Noodle's parts visibly uncomfortable. Sounds like the frontman is trying to correct Shaun on the chorus. "It's dare." "It's DEEAAHHGGHH!" In one performance the frontman is behind the stage in silhouette and appears to crack up at Shaun's antics. But what really makes the shit so hilarious are the comment sections. "Shaun Ryder never did no harm." Apparently the guy got clean and on more recent performances of the song he's not obnoxious.

I think that Gorillaz don't really have a genre. Kind of like Beck, where just about every album fits a style or genre. One could be soul based, next one could be folk and next one could be pop. Where it's At, Devils Haircut, Loser are classic Beck tracks.

My suggestions in the more rapper related songs would be Dirty Harry (another Clint Eastwood reference of course ^^), Saturn Barz (this will get you off guard ^^) and I highly recommend Momentary Bliss and Pac Man to ya. If you are in the mood for divers stuff 19-2000 (catchy song from the beginnings you probably have heard sometime ago in youre live), El Manana (follow up to Feel Good Inc video wise and a quite sad one for sure), Pink Phantom ( big surprise feature here ^^) and Desole (very different indeed) An other set of story telling videos you get with plastic beachs album and the songs Stylo, On Meloncholy Hills and Rhinstone Eyes (story board version only during budget gotten cut however there is a fan animated version of it you should check out which took the fan 6 years to finish!) Of course there are lots of other vids from them but unfortunately not all there songs gain a musicvideo of course but hopefully we get a full Gorillaz Movie by Netflix in the near future the whole band story is so much dope ^^ (just an example Noodle is actually part of a super soldier experiment by Japan and after it was shut down was sent to England via Fed Ex crate to prevent her from getting erased by the gouvernment ^^ After the event of El Manana she dissappears and Murdoc replaces her with a Cyborg Version we can see during Stylo.) (Other band facts while Murdoc gets arrested during some time after the plastic beach episodes he is replaced by Ace from Powerpuff girls for nearly a full album ;) ) I think you get the point about how interesting the Gorillaz are not just by the songs but the Animation and Story arround them as well.
