I knew 💯 that Hollywood would love this one! This is a soundtrack of my life song. Reminds me of high school even though it came out a couple years after I graduated. The feeling though! You guys may know their biggest hit-“The Middle” “…It just takes some time, little girl, you’re in the middle of the ride, everything, everything will be alright. Everything, everything will be alright…” I’ll give you that one for free cause it’s played everywhere still but I will suggest y’all check out “555”. Pop punk? I'd say the term power pop fits this sound much better. I'd guarantee you've heard their biggest hit, The Middle, at least once. That song got overplayed to hell and back. Personally, I'd much rather hear your thoughts on Futures, Something Loud, or my 2nd favorite JEW song after this one, Lucky Denver Mint. IIRC, they got their name from a drawing made by the lead singer's kid brother. Another power pop group you need to get around to is Mae. I've never heard one song from them I didn't immediately love. STRONGLY recommend checking out Someone Else's Arms, Sometimes I Can't Make it Alone and Summertime

I'm pretty sure this song is about how the band were pouring their heart into the music but their previous record company just weren't interested, and all they wanted to do was escape from the contract so they could move forward. This album was the first release with the new label, and they definitely pushed it harder!

I first heard this song (although it was a slightly different mix, and there were quite a few mixes of this song) on a car drifting video called the Ruch Montage from back in like 2003/2004 I think. Great video (although most of the footage is standard definition and not great quality).
