Yeah that’s the one I rec to people when talking about polyphia. It’s really difficult to blend hip hop and metal (in most cases it doesn’t sound good at all imo) but they found a perfect balance. Also helps that lil west found the perfect pocket to rap in for that song as well

The trumpet player is Ivan from Brasstracks! (Brasstracks produced Chance the Rapper's "No Problem" and got a Grammy for it) He is also featured on the song Genesis, which just so happens to be the first song on their latest album. This song is the last so the album opens and closes with the trumpet. If you want to check out a Brasstracks, I really like their "Golden Ticket" performance on Colbert) Chimera and Fuck Around and Find Out both have rap features.

You should check out Steve Vai. He's an OG guitar god from the 80's who's solo work has won a grammy, also played with Whitesnake, Frank Zappa, and David Lee Roth(orriginal singer of Van Halen). For the love of God, The Audience Is listening, The attitude song are a few I'd recommend.

Polyphia is definitely a band for other musicians. Hard to understand how insane their technical game is when you haven't tried the instruments yourself

you guys had a nice reaction, like watching an entirely different genre react to my favorite band atm. If you guys want some vocal features, they have a few different options. If you wanted something more in the rap/hip hop range, try chimera, or fuck around and find out, off the same album. If you want something more heavy, bloodbath has chino moreno from the deftones. One of my favorite features, though, is the song ABC. It's a pop vibe, and it's a killer song. Any of those, I'd love to see you guys react to! Subbing for more!

Definitely not prog metal. Check out between the buried and me- white walls. They’re a proper prog metal band. Polyphia has some older stuff that’s more metal-ish but they’re just more virtuoso instruments in many styles. “Champagne” is a little more metal sounding. Great tune whatever you call it. Great reaction fellas!

One of my favorite polyphia songs which also has a vocal feature is “abc” feat. Sophia Black. It’s very poppy and kind of divisive for the fan base.
