Supposedly something like 10% of the world's current population can trace lineage back to Genghis Khan...allegedly. Not sure if that's the correct percentage, but it's a surprisingly large number.

If you have heard any native American music, it sounds like this, just minus the rock drums. Mad respect to honoring their heritage in a rock genre. They did collaborate with a few regular rock artists, but I think it sounds better without the guest artists. The Hu means the people. By the way, there are versions of their songs that have the English translations of what's being sung.

I know that you guys probably won't see this, but i'm so happy that you opened yourselves up to listen to the band The Hu! I am not your typical listener. I am much older, could be a grandmother, but I was turned on to them over a year ago, and having a music background, I have just been so intrigued by them. I don't know if you looked up anything about the band, but those instruments that they play, particularly the 2 that only have 2 strings they are traditional Mongolian. Instruments and they are normally played sitting down. They had to have them retrofitted so that they could learn to play them as they stood up.The other instrument only has three strings, the one that is referred to as an electric guitar. The range of sound that they achieve, especially on the instruments with 2 strings, is phenomenal exclamation. They are cool, you guys are cool, and I totally enjoy listening to you!

This music stirs in all of us that primordial connection- to the land, to our collective human history, to each other. I believe this is why it has attracted so many, regardless of any presupposed language barrier. I fell in love with them in 2016 before they became widely known, for this reason. How strange, how strange Hey, you traitor! Kneel down Hey, Prophecies be declared! Why it’s so hard to cherish the Ancestors' inherited land? How strange, how strange Why priceless edifications of elders turning to ashes? How strange, how strange With the future of eternal prosperity, The Wolf totemed Mongols have the blessings of Heaven Born with undeniable fate to gather nations, the Lord Chinggis declares his name on earth. It is very unlikely that there was any interaction between the Irish and the Mongols during the period of the Mongol Empire, simply because of geography and the distance involved. That some Hu Band songs sound like Irish or other folk music from various parts of the world is simply a coincidence. Primitive folk music from all over the planet used somewhat similar instruments and so naturally sounds somewhat similar. This is not to say that the Hu Band might not have been influenced by music from other cultures, as obviously they have.
