In the late 80s and early 90s, Dr. Eugene Landy was pushing Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys into a solo career against his will and exerting a sort of dictatorial control over the music he was making. This resulted in one self titled full length album, and an aborted project called "Sweet Insanity". One of the songs recorded for sweet insanity which eventually leaked was called "Smart Girls" and featured Brian rapping over a hip hop beat full of old Beach Boys samples. The song isn't good by any means but it's absolutely fascinating as a weird relic. Slightly less fascinating is the 1992 Beach Boys song Summer of Love, which features hip hop influenced production and some truly awful rap verses from world class shitbag Mike Love. Between the two, I'd say that Brian Wilson is the better rapper, but I'd really prefer it if neither of them rapped ever again.

“I’m gonna take you on a LOVE vacation…” That lyric makes my skin crawl and has me begging for death to come wash over me. Also how can we forget the other Beach Boys rap song with the Fat Boys because we do live in a timeline in which there are at least three of these mutations existing.

Not sure if the Judgement Night soundtrack from the 90s movie fits this topic but I remember liking it. Each track was a rock/metal band collaborating with a rap/hiphop artist.

Post-punk led directly to rap rock. Rap rock was initially as much of a spin-off of post-punk as gothic rock and industrial rock were. Rap rock came out of that experimentation by post-punk bands like the Clash and Public Image Ltd. who broadened their sound with elements of dub, reggae, ska, jazz, soul, funk and hip hop.

Know about Body Count . Been a fan sice '91 when they had a track on Ice's OG Original Gangster album and have both versions of the 1st album with and without Cop Killer . Recently bought the Radio Ep with that song and a few other tracks off ebay . Even have the 1st album cover tatooed on my left arm . Their last few albums (Manslaughter , Bloodlust , Carnivore ) were all hardcore and kickass . Must own imo . As far as the Vanilla Ice album goes liked Hard To Swallow . Too Cold was a banger . Picked up his album Bi Polar off ebay . Ice recently did a track with Gratness and Violent j of ICP called ICP . Hope that gets a physical release .Also death rapper Necro just dropped his 1st metal song . He was a metalhead before rapping and was in a band called Injustice and has worked with members from Anthrax , Shadows Fall , 12 Tribes , Cro Mags , Hatebreed , S.O.D. , Obituary, Voivod , Lamb Of God on his albums and has played metal festivals in the past . His catalog of work is worth a listen . Plus Anthrax did a remake of Bring The Noise w/Public Enemy and their song I'm The Man before that so they're no strangers to doing another genre . Plus Tim Armstrong of Rancid doing Transplants with Travis Barker of Blink 182 and Skinhead Rob . Diamonds And Guns is a dope track with rapper Son Doobie . Just a few of top of the head .

What about the Clash’s Mag seven? Arguably the earliest rap song by a rock band

I don't like neither rap nor hip hop at all. The only exceptions are Dee Dee Ramone's Standing In The Spotlight and Funkyman. Absolutely brilliant stuff, 9/10. But it's Dee Dee Ramone, the greatest songwriter ever. The No. 1. The King.
