Great Video. Try to stick the antenna itself tip/pointed up. Even if you use a radio in your hands, keep the antenna pointed straight up for maximum effectiveness. The FM radios we have use vertical polarization for antennas, if you wear body worn type antenna you get away from that which causes up to 80% loss of receive power, and distance in transmit. I'm using the Nagoya NA-320A & NA-771 antennas. Both antennas run up my back from the molle vest...about 2 inches of antenna stick above my shoulders. Then again, I'm just into Ham Radios....but if SHTF...count on me.

Appreciate your input im working through a bunch of stuff on HAM, DMR, FRS, and GMRS for preparedness content. There's a lot of really good information out there for those (commercial systems)

Great info! Would you recommend a SHORT or LONG pouch for a folding whip antenna?
@LegionPreparedness2 жыл бұрын
I would use hair ties to retain the whip antenna so the pouch size doesn't entirely matter / make a difference. Id Leave it at personal preference

The antennas and cables shouldn't snap or break. These pouches are not rigid enough to protect your antenna or bnc cable connector. A fall backwards or even sitting down will snap ghat antenna sma connector.
