PORTABLE MAGIC CHEF WASHER/DRYER COMBO | BEST PORTABLE WASHER/DRYER COMBO
Hello There!
Here we are again, another Portable Magic Chef unit, and this time we're reviewing their Portable washing machine washer & dryer combo! When we lived in an apartment, we truly enjoyed having portable units, and how accommodating they are to smaller living spaces. Portable washers and dryers truly are worth it, due to being able to wash clothes in the privacy of your own small living space, and having clothes just as clean as you would with a full size unit. We have since moved into a home, and no longer have the units, but let's just say it was strangely quite hard parting with them. It's safe to say that I, Really liked my units, and would recommend them to anyone. Portable washer and dryers are excellent to wash laundry for apartments, tiny homes, those who live in condos, college campus dorms, those live in RVs, and people who enjoy traveling, even for camping and glamping.
I reached out to Magic Chef, in hopes to find help, and after several months I stopped. However, we still were determined to help you all out, with some or hopefully all of your questions.
-Rachael & Family xo

@@RachaelXO Hi Rachel. I just want to thank you for your very kind response to my thoughtless comment. You are correct, I clearly made an assumption from your stating you were not keeping the unit the first time I watched your video. Somehow I heard you say you were 'returning the unit'. But upon listening a second time, you've clearly stated, you are 'not keeping the unit'. I do apologize for my mistake. Thank you for clarifying so that anyone who may have read my comment, now also has clarity on the matter. And, if they too heard what i heard the first time, they may read this and be in the know. I have this same exact unit. Thank you for the upload, I went through trial and error and if your home the quickest possible way to wash and dry is Wash on "Quick Wash" 20:00 minutes then Dry on "Timed Dry" 01:28 1 hr 28 minutes for a Wash & Dry time total of 01:48 1hr 48 minutes. Tips, take clothes out asap, keep the load medium size, don't overstuff it, and hang your clothes. This is spin and steam drying only so clothes may seem damp but after hanging for just a 5 minutes they are ready. If your not home the "Auto Dry" is convenient but longer. Just put them in & walk away, but most the time the clothes are wrinkled so I suggest just washing under garments if your not going to be home. Hope this helps someone🤗

Something to keep in mind is washer dryers use water to efficiently dry clothes. You are meant to leave the water hook up connected to them whilst they dry. This is why you hear the pump kick in to evacuate the water but was noisy because the water wasn't connected. It's how the dryer efficiently condenses the moisture out of the air to dry clothes.
@RachaelXO
@RachaelXO 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for that. Yes, I went back to check, and at 17:50 you can see I still have everything attached and going, when starting the dryer. Good for everyone to know.

My wife and I have been looking for something exactly what your video shows! Thanks for your video. This little Magic Chef washer machine is perfect!!! We have a very small 1 bedroom Home, compact but with all the high tech appliances , equipment, and furniture, so we love this small front loader washer machine. It checks all the boxes for our place....cant ask for anything more than this perfect fitting unit, HOWEVER......OMG....when my wife told me how much this little unit was, I just about poo poo'd my pants! LOL> Are you kidding me Magic Chef?????? $1,400.oo bucks!!!!! WOW!!! The price is just absurd. It seems like everything that fits perfect in our place, and is miniature and high tech, seems to always tip the finance scale!! LOL We're gonna keep shopping. But thanks for the insight!!! Update: Ok, what I didn't know, upon further reading up on this unit, its a dryer as well, So this we may consider purchasing.

Hey Randy! Sorry it took so long to respond, our Family has been a bit under the weather and just getting better. Honestly, I agree with you as it is quite expensive. It is a 2 in 1, which is nice, but there's others out there that are less expensive. It is a nice feature that it has both wash and dry functions, but there's also really great portable dryers that a separate and less expensive. When my Husband and I learned about portable units and that such amazing contraptions exist lol, I did a lot of research and decided on a Magic Chef Washer and Dryer. In fact, I've done a video on them and others as well. Just as I was going to comment that’s it makes some noise you commented that it’s not. LOL!!! 😂 I have been waffling back and forth about getting one of these units .. my washer will do a quick load in 22 minutes then I’ll dry in 40-60 minutes …so it takes just as long to wash one load on the setting you chose as it does to was dishes in a dishwasher. LOL!!! 😂 you are making me rethink this type of unit and I appreciate that. Maybe you could have gone through all the wash cycles like you did the dry side…but 20/20 hindsight … I appreciate the video!

That was a very nicely done video. I love your little assistants 😊. It's unfortunate that in the interests of attractive design, there's no arrow or dot on the dial to indicate what's selected. Also, instead of banding a piece of nylon stocking over the end of the hose, you can easily find a strainer for the drain to catch lint and such. I paid a dollar for a bathtub drain strainer, and it catches so much lint! Those times for washing and drying seem incredibly long. Wow! Thank you for doing the review.

I sold appliances for yearssss just an fyi for extending any washers lifespan, when finished with your laundry, always put it on a drain and spin cycle - another bonus with that is it reduces washer smells! An fyi on not using dryer vents - the moisture in the home can cause damage, like causing paint to chip, wood to unnecessarily expand/shrink, and more.

I have the same washer, it's branded Midea in Brazil, it is a great and cheap washer. I guess you should have unscrewed that big bolts behind the machine, they are only for transportation purpose and they lock the suspension of the washer. Also, you can't use liquid detergent in the second wash unless you use some sort of container for holding the detergent, otherwise it will get in the tub on first wash. I use the bottom of an ajax bottle, it works fine. Great video!

You're welcome, thank you for the question. I'd personally stay away from anything bulky in the portable units. As it may be too big to wash properly, and work the machine harder, and over time wares on the machine. If it's super lightweight, maybe, otherwise I'd say no. When we had our portable units, I used them for everything but comforters. Sheets, lap blankets, towels, are all fine

Yes you can, this size machine is the standard here in the uk and across Europe, as long as it fits in the drum you can wash anything, Never understood why you guys in the states insist on having such huge machines, unless you have a small army living in your house you really don’t need a machine that’s so big, And it’s a shame the majority of washing machines you guys have over there don’t have built in heaters to heat the water, I would never ever wash clothes in cold water or towels or bedding, exceptionally unhygienic , front loader machines in the uk and the rest of Europe do 3 rinses as a minimum, this still uses less water than your top loaders but rinses so much better because of the way a front loader works, front loaders wash better as well, in any washing machine I would only use powder, the gels, pods and liquids leave a film in the gap between the tub and drum

So my question is, when it switches to drying is there any heat drying the clothes? Or is it just spin drying/air drying?? I have a panda portable fully automatic washing machine and want to get the magic chef portable dryer to go with it. I had the washer/spin dryer combo before and that was too much work plus I still had to hang my clothes to dry. So then I got a portable air dryer which looked like a closet where you just hang your clothes and zip up the bag and turn on the air, but that left my clothes looking like they were hung on a clothes line. The best dryer I had was the magic chef portable electric dryer. Because there's heat drying the clothes and they're tumble drying. So yeah does this machine dry with heat?

Sorry for the late reply. But yes, this unit does, in fact. Use heat to dry the clothes. It uses a condenser drying system which will take a bit longer, but if used correctly should provide good results.

I'll be honest, I don't really do videos. However, I will say, in my opinion there are better brands to look into if you can get your hands on them. Home Depot just recently put out an LG where I live. This machine isn't terrible if you have 8 hours to devote to a single load. Also, even though you can stuff a full/queen sized blanket in it, you have to be careful not to overdo the load. My daughter put 4 bath towel, 3 hand towels, and 3 wash clothes in yesterday for a "quick wash" cycle. That's a cycle that goes for 2 hours and 58 minutes (wash, rinse, spin, and dry), I have since then put that load back on dry for 4 hours...and now it's back on for 4 hours. I probably could have chose a shorter time, but I'm done playing with this load. If they aren't dry after this I'll find some place to hang them up. The only reason we got this Danby was because combos are hard to find around here and this was all we could find for our camper. I suppose if you're using it for a camper that all you do is use it for camping it would be great, but for everyday use for a family of 6 I would give our machine a 3/10 rating.

Late to the party here but I'm not gonna lie I'm rather surprised that you guys call this a portable unit! This is a full-size machine for us in the UK and Europe kinda shows the go-big or go-home style the USA seems to have! SIDE NOTE: YOU DID NOT REMOVE THE BLACK RUBBER TRANSIT BOLTS ON THE BACK! This will cause lots of vibrating and eventually damage the machine AND dont put anything over the end of the hose use a separate sive if you dont want lint in your drain the backpressure will cause the machine to error out and shut down as it didnt drain fast enough. That aside you may want to pin this and i will spend a moment replying to people who have asked. TLDR: These machines have no lint trap more info is below! Washer-dryers typically uses a hot air blower to evaporate water and then uses a spray of cold water to a metal condenser to remove the steam which is why combo owners most of the time see it drying more efficiently in the winter as the mains water is colder! This makes the machine generally self-cleaning other than a quick wipe around the door rubber with a damp cloth and running the empty load tub clean as with all washing machines (about once a month or when your machine tells you mine locks out at 40 washes Source: I own a BOSH one in my kitchen DO CHECK THE MANUAL FOR ALL INFO THOUGH!

You're not getting the required amount of water when you're only running the Cold water feed to the machine especially when the unit is wanting to use the water feed from the Hot inlet to run the other wash cycles that require Hot or Warm water form the Hot feed. You can wash a full load of towels in these machines, these are standard size here in the uk and across the rest of Europe, you can wash duvets ( or what you call comforters ), big blankets etc etc they actually work better with a full load. Never understood why you guys in the states insist on such big machines, also I think it’s a shame most machines in the states don’t have built in heaters to heat the water, and front loaders across Europe and the uk do 3 rinses as a minimum and still use less water than top loaders, the way the drums work means it actually rinses better and washes better than top load machines, spin speed is normally higher on front loaders as well average spin in the uk is 1400rpm
