RARE 1964 Fresno FULTON MALL Construction Photos by John S. Cooper; Part of LOOK AROUND, FOLLOW ME

In the Summer of 2015, a trove of Fulton Art Mall construction photos from 1964 was unearthed at the Fresno Historical Society in Fresno, California. Taken by John S. Cooper, these photos had never been seen by the public in over 50 years!
Witness and examine for the first time, the tremendous amount of manpower, materials, and machinery that created the Fulton Art Mall.
Designed by Garrett Eckbo, one realizes the Fulton Art Mall was a technical and artistic achievement of "Mid 20th Century Modern" Landscape Architecture unparalleled in the world.

I miss the Fulton Mall. I loved the International Festivals and the chalk drawings there.

It is a one of its kind art piece in its entirety and a masterpiece of Mid Century Landscape Architecture, with multi-million dollar artwork. And it belongs to the people of Fresno, who paid for the art. We should continue to preserve it.

now if only the ribbon cutting film footage could be found, i've seen the photos, read the plaque at the clock tower of the dedication. there is film footage.
