D'Jeeco is a sweet family that sleep together. They are particularly affectionate. Also some gorillas in the wild sleep near one another. See "fathers of the year" on PBS. Really cute video of gorillas in the wild. I am happy to see Genki and Momotaro sleeping side by side and Genki looking up at her man.

Adorable. I never see the silverbacks sleeping near their mates. The big guys usually nap alone. This family likes to sleep near Momotaro. Maybe they feel safe. Such a beautiful family.

I remember a fight between MoMo and Gentaro ,Gentaro was up against that wooden structure that slants down ,he started screaming and holding a chipped tooth ,MoMo stopped so fast because he was concerned about his sons tooth ,I think their bark is louder then their bite ,❤️

The noise from all the visitors is so loud. I wish it were more quite for the gorillas and that they had a sense of more privacy like the visitors could see the gorillas but the gorillas not see all the people. It must be bothersome and stressful for them hearing and seeing so many people all the time other than night when the zoo is closed. People say oh there just animals but I say animals or not it must bother them to be subject to seeing many people and loud people

I think it’s only for a few hours per day…..helps to bring in revenue that the zoo needs. The gorilla exhibit is where I like to spend most of my time at the zoo…..observing my relatives in captivity. Although, I’m aware this is the only way to preserve them from going extinct . I have no problem with it as long as they are treated kindly and made very comfortable.

Is your assessment based on gorilla society or is it simply because you prefer Shabani? Shabani grew up in a stable troop and was able to observe the great Silverback Kibabu. He lived with his father, his mother, and siblings until he was sent to Japan at the age of 11. Do you watch the Shabani Troop often? They have had difficulties for the last year or so with their growing blackback who pursues his sexual coming-of-age with his mom and his sister. Shabani and Kiyomasa have had stand-offs and there have been minor skirmishes but, luckily, none with serious consequences. Momotaro did not have a stable troop life - his father died 7 months before his birth. He lived only with his mother and was separated from her at the age of six when she had a breeding recommendation. He had never lived with any other gorilla besides his mother until he went to Kyoto on a breeding recommendation with Genki.
