when I was in LA last weekend I saw it over the bridge, for some reason I thought Caltrain gave a locomotive to Metrolink Or Amtrak since the nose looks exactly like a Caltrain F40 nose with the red stripes, but now I see that the San Joaquins either gave the NPCU to the Surfliner or they just leased it to them

On the night of June 27, 2024, six Comet railcars as well as two EMD F40PH NPCU cab cars were delivered to Los Angeles after being attached in Oakland to the Coast Starlight. The Comet railcars and NPCUs will be used when the Pacific Surfliner adds extra roundtrips, particularly on the weekends. Also, their comet cars left on the San Joaquins will be reassigned to Southern California by 2026 when the full fleet of 7 Siemens Venture sets go into service.

@@turnerdeedo4633They’re being put out of service anyways, the venture cars for Amtrak California have arrived and most of those comet cars are now out of service.
