until now it's still a mystery for me how cacti in benguet can thrive in 100% organic material and constant exposure to moisture

As long as the organic is well-draining it will thrive. They usually use alnus compost which is an excellent medium since it is well-draining, allows air, and also lightweight. The particle size of Alnus compost are large or coarse. For the moisture, as long as the location is airy it is okay. In fact most cacti are also located in high altitude area, some of them relies on humidity, clouds/fogs, morning dew or sea breaze. Though based from some Benguet propagators, some cactus grow slower at their area due to low temperature. Example are cactus hybrids from Thailand, probably since these cacti are used to high temperatures.

Hello, I have tried some premade soil mix in shopee, but currently I am not using any so I can’t recommended one. I usually just make my own. You can check Aditha’s Farm Supply, they have everything you need in the cheapest price. They also sell premade soil mix, though I haven’t tried it yet. But here’s a cheaper DIY potting mix and the link to the individual components (same store): * 7 parts - Pumice Stone (Monggo): shope.ee/2LAcU6B8sS * 1 part - Carbonized rice hull: shope.ee/9pGdPzbV59 * 1 part - Coco peat: shope.ee/9za3cPKdIg * 1 part - Peat moss: shope.ee/9KKINp7PCS I think you can make 4-5kgs of potting mix for around Php 150 Here’s the computation: 4kg of Pumice - 80 500 grams of CRH - 18 500 grams of Coco peat - 15 500 grams of Peat moss - 36 Note: You still have to measure it using cups. But if you really want some premade. Here are some of the potting mix I used wayback 2019 when I am starting. Again I am not using any of these now. @@theplantprinceph Hey there thanks for the reply! Just to clarify, 7 parts pumice means i have to order 7 bags right?

What I meant by 7 parts is 7 cups. Basically, for every 7 cups of pumice, you’ll be adding 1 cup of peat moss, 1 cup of coco peat, and 1 cup or CRH. I measure the ingredients using cups rather than weight since coco peat, peat moss, and CRH are lighter compared to pumice. You can order 4kg of pumice, 500 grams of CRH, 500 grams of coco peat, and 500 grams of peatmoss as a starter.
