As someone who only has time to watch youtube right before bed, in the dark, the welding filter is something that not only sets your videos apart and shows you care of your fans, it also puts the quality of your channel in a Superior tier

While i agree that it's nice he does that, facts are there is no danger to the eyes in watching video of welding arcs. But it's still nice he adds a filter though.

You can't imagine how happy I was to see you reshape the eye from a circle to an oval, my biggest pet peeve with restoration channels like this one is that while the creators are obviously extremely skilled with their tools and knowledgeable of their craft, they simply don't know how to make a weapon and instead just make what is essentially an art object.

Very very VERY few monitors or TV's can project light bright enough to harm your eyes, does not matter whats shown on it, laser or not.

No, he didn’t. An arc flash can damage your eyes in person but on your screen you’re gonna need to up the brightness around 10,000x to have a danger of any kind.

I've always wondered if watching welding through a camera is bad for your eyes. I have to assume anything too bright whether it's in person or camera is probably bad for your eyes but the actual ultraviolet light that does damage to your eyes does not come through the camera.

@@teepeeX he already lost authenticity with all the modifications and engravings he did. His goal was to make it badass and it is definitely 10x cooler then what it originally was. Original Viking owner would approve. 👍

I'm just watching this and the comments gave it away which is fine, But the old wood has a better shape (more classical) Than that super straight piece of hickory (which has nicer grains !) So suppose its what you want in the long run hehehe, great job on the Axe looks fantastic !

Even long after the end of the Viking era, Viking descendants stayed famous for their axe skill. The axe symbol stands for strength and bravery. Its deeper meaning can be interpreted as the ability of one's heart or mind to cut through any obstacles on their life path. By the way, I really love this restoration! Nice video. But since the axe is basically an artifact and a “decoration”, replacing the original wood handle was a mistake I think. Keeping the blade a shiny silver would have been cool too. Still nice result.

It's a replica, not an actual viking axe. If it was a real viking axe it would be in a museum.

I like that you didnt flatten the blades faces. I also like that you dont kill the wood by stabilizing with resin. The wood tskes the oil so thankfully. Great work.

100% the old stick. Personally for me the handle of the weapon holds as much history, if not more, than the axe head so seeing a truly antique piece modernized is really cool!

Re: Reusing the Handle - I'm a supporter of using as much of the original material as possible. The handle isn't bad, so why not keep it? Though I'm also not a fan of laser engraving. Handmade is always better.

You and me both, i liked the restored axe head without engraving more. Along with the actual wooden handle. It kind of ruins the actual axe in the end.

its better to use a new one, old one can rot and break rendering the work useless. if this axe is ever to be used its just safer to get a new one

@@reykuu Dry wood actually doesn't really rot all that easily. Put a coat of lacquer on it, it'll be fine.
