i actually did see some ball lightning once. I was in my early 20s, driving home to my apartment in Norman, OK fairly late at night when I saw this large ball of yellowish/green light (a little wider than the front of my car) floating and bouncing in the air. it came in from the right side of the road and bounced across both lanes to the median and then dissipated. it looked so alien and so unreal.

I saw it happen once as well, outside our living room window at the end of a storm. My husband saw it, too. It appeared after a loud clap of thunder. It was about the size of a basketball with a reddish hue, very bright. It floated and bounced a bit up and down before it dissipated.

The top of our power pole is on fire our electricity went out thank God that they woke us up. I live on 10 acres in the Shasta Valley. My neighbor who lives back of my property was putting her chickens away for the night and spotted the fire on top of the pole . The Maine power pole on the road got hit with lightning surge down the lines an our pool was at the end. Our Saving Grace was it had down poured and the ground was wet. And also the wind had died down. We were getting up to 50 to 60 mile an hour winds during the storm.

I saw ball lighting one time in my life. My late father informed me that he too once saw ball lightning. He told me he saw it at the age of 12. I saw it when I was in my early thirties. I don't know anyone else who says they saw it. I was absolutely petrified. My father had told me that if ball lightning comes towards you there is no escape and that you will die. Supposedly he knew someone who it killed roughly 70 years ago. Supposedly it is also known to happen from time to time on Cape Cod. I saw it in Rhode Island. It was sort of floating around maybe twenty feet off the ground. It was more or less spheroid in shape though not a perfect sphere and also difficult to tell exact shape due to it being difficult to discern it's boundaries. What I saw was probably around 6 to 10 feet in diameter though also seemed to vary in size slightly. Not pulsing in particular just changing it's size more or less randomly. Then almost as if it was alive it just started wandering around the neighborhood, disappeared inside someone's house, I heard a scream then it wandered out the other side of that house, floated up a tree, swung around and then came right at me like it had been launched from a cannon. That house was around two hundred feet away. It just flew right at me and I was absolutely certain I was about to die then it suddenly came to a complete stop as though it hit a wall. It even altered it's shape a little and flattened against an invisible plane roughly ten feet in front of me then just sat there a few feet off the ground for a few second then just shot straight up like a giant flair shot out of a giant flair gun and just kept going straight up shrinking until it completely disappeared. I don't know if it actually shrunk or if it just went straight up. Also the whole time it emitted a crackling sound similar to what you might hear from Tesla coils. Honestly I don't know what it was but the few videos I have seen of ball lightning all these years later are similar but this one was huge, seemed to move purposefully almost like driven by some intelligence. I have absolutely no explanation for what this actually was only that I think it was ball lightning.

That’s very clearly simple lens flair - each so called ball lightning appearance is a reflection of one of the bright lights in the bottom of the frame, and tracks said bright lights as the frame pans. Maybe you should have run this by one of your camera people before making a news story of it.
@dementionalpotato3 жыл бұрын
So obvious, I thought my head might explode. It even matches the intensity of the initial lightning strike to a tee, and manages to disappear at the exact same time as the lightning. I have literally never used a camera in my life, except for the one on my phone, and I can realize this.
@kevcom0003 жыл бұрын
dementionalpotato maybe you should listen to what they say before you call them dumbasses because it just makes you look like one... the whole “looks like a ball of lightning exploding” only makes sense for the giant ball of light that looks like it’s exploding next to the ground not the 3 lens flairs that just get bright then dim.

Ball lightning is actually very extremely misunderstood phenomenal mystery. There's actually a blue - white one and a reddish - orange one, the bluish - white one can actually explode with a loud bang, leaving a charred remains. In ancient times people thought they were actually ghosts or maybe something else. Ball lightning does things that lightning does not do like rubbing into things inside a house. Then later goes into a chimney if any and then it will actually explode with a thunderous sound.

Lightning bolts, ball lightning and the the sun are 2 stroke plasma entities. The ball lightnings are a toroidal pladmoid rotary 2 stroke that taps aetheric ZPE as it has its particle’s moving in an abrupt cyclic motion according to Moray King. I shoot photography semi-professionally and have a really good understanding how it works. What you are seeing in this video after the lightning strike is called lens flare. The light from the transformers exploding was bright enough to reflect off the internal elements of the lens used in this video, back to the forward elements of wich then the light is reflected back off the backside of the forward elements, toward the back of the lens used thus seeing spots in the video that is 180 degrees offset from the original light source from the direct center axis of the lens. This will cause the light to be visible to the cmos sensor of this video camera on the oposite side of the framed source. Further more, the various colors you see with lens flare is a direct result of the coatings used on the different elelments of the lens. For the record, I also am an avid lightning photographer here and seen many different forms of lightning. Only a hand full of times have I ever seen ball lightning and it does move VERY fast. If shot with a still shot camera like a DSLR or SLR It is going to look just like a normal lightning strike. If it is shot with a video camera, most likely with the rolling shutters that todays video cameras have would just show a half-frame lightning bolt.

I was around 12 feet or 4 meters from where it landed. I stopped the bicycle and went over to see the spot where it hit the road, it was noiseless no sound from it, and when I looked at the place where it fell there was no Ash no debri, nothing. Needless to say I was scared and cycled as quickly as I could home, no one till this day can say what I saw fall from the sky. It was a calm night, it had been raining , that was all. The balls that appear to be flying are just glass glare. And I think the flash on the ground in the distance might be a transformer or some other part of electric grid that experienced an electric arc. Like lightning braking a power line, or braking a tree part on top of 2 lines causing a short circuit. And I think lightning directly hitting an electric line can leave behind an electric arc that burns for a while before the circuit breakers of the grid trip.

I read in one of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books about a storm causing balls of lightning to roll down the chimney. I seem to recall that there was a reaction from her mother’s knitting needles, but I’m not sure if that happened or not. I hope at least some meteorologists have checked out her books, bc the family certainly lived through some demmed bizarre weather, including the locust invasion in Minnesota.

This is a very bad example of "ball lightning". This is actually an artifact caused by phone lenses, where a phone will digitally stabilize video, but because the physical lens is moving more, it looks like there is more movement in the lens flares. Yes, it's just lens flares.

Bride of Christ most likely an Archangel taking her place and replacing Satan's former position on the Biblical 7 Great Angels. Preachers, some groups, churches and individuals claim that they are the Bride of Christ but I have been doing some research on the Dead Sea Scroll and it is not them and I even have her name "Alita Elohim" the most high archangel. You don't have to believe me though :)

That wasn't ball lightning if you mean those 2 lights in the sky. You can clearly see that they move synchronous the whole time, so that's a reflection. The lights on the ground are power flashes which you see in so many lightning videos.

Correct. If there was any to be seen in this clip it was obscured by the internal double reflection that can be noticed weaving around the frame as a result of camera movement identifiable by the way their apparent motion is an amplified but synchronous version of the motion of the background in frame. If the camera had been perfectly still they would perhaps allowed the ball lightning to come into view. Shame.

I remember when i was doing a first year in studying psychology and I wanted to do a reaserch topic on the effect lighting has on the brain after people have been stuck by it. There was so little reaserch that it became impossible for me to do. I ended up realizing that people look at psychology to fix or look at people as though they are broken. So few regard it for a way of understanding the human brain. So I switched to environmental science. I still want to know the answer to that question but I dont know if I ever will.

I believe I have seen this before on the ground. There was amazing purple and green colors coming from the ground like the balls you see in this video. I thought it was an electrical transformer or something blowing up. It does look like an induced effect maybe from objects with magnets in them like transformers.

It's probably pockets of fungus or bacteria being ignited on or under the ground causing not only the sulfur smell but the quick flame would give a path upwards for the lighting hitting the ground to follow back out and you wouldn't see the current till it was a couple feet off the ground. Steam could also create a upward path for the electricity to discharge upwards after the lightning hits.

That doesn't look anything like ball lightning. I've been watching the skies since I was a little kid. Only once have I seen ball lightning and that was over the State of Georgia during the 70's.
@BadDriversOfNapa3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. This looks like lens flare. Ball lightning is very rare to be captured on video. It's estimated that about 5% of the world's population has seen it. I posted a video just now on my channel of a mysterious light in the sky that appears during a thunderstorm that resembles the rare instances of supposed ball lightning that other people have recorded. I can't prove it of course. But I had the footage analyzed by those in the aviation industry before I published the video, and I myself have a background in atmospheric science and everyone I showed it to, thought it was curious and odd. If I did capture ball lightning, then I'm honored to be one of the very few to have captured it. Unfortunately I can't ever know for sure so I won't make assumptions.

ball lightning just describes the after effect i guess. its igniting stuff around it and we call it plasma. they have been known to vwoft into the air and can float around for quite some time.
