The Mcintosh decks are designed by CLARION... :) This is the same deck as the DRX9255

Old yes, but its still better than any new headunit. Is has and aux input, but it would be better to go with an MX4000 with MDA4000, because then he could stream digital from the ipad to the MDA4000 and control it with the MX4000

Interesting turn in your build. My presumption of what direction you were going to go with the source was completely different than the direction you went! My $0.02 are about as valuable as their real world counterpart, I know, but please tell me how I was incorrect thinking your valuable and short on supply dash area would've worked well with under over style install, much like many of the OEM integration installs before? Thinking since the available area is quite minimal already, not taking in to account the way over the top items that make up this entire car, but still, isn't a bulky centerpiece going to make the ambiance of your classic v-dub seem weird? I know there is a bajillion different things going on with it, and this will be one more thing, just one more thing. What's just one more, right? Love the vids, keep it up! PLUR

Doug, at 1:36 there is a 2 way cable splitter that is now outdated and not good. There are problems with the frequency ranges on them. You should replace it. Soon.

Clarion made these HU's and they sold off their interest in the company in the early 2000's. McIntosh no longer did car audio at that point. That deck was probably made in the late 90's. I doubt very much BT was around then.

bluetooth is not the best for sound quality. Original cds or flac files ripped from cds are one of the top choices. wav if storage is not a problem. mp3 is ok. BT is at least better then a cassette tape though haha
