A hurricane warning is in effect for Jamaica as a category 5 storm rips through the open waters. Hurricane Beryl is the earliest category 5 storm to ever form in the Atlantic. Beryl has already hit Saint Vincent as well as Barbados. The hurricane is expected to bring life-threatening winds and storm surges to Jamaica where officials have warned locals to prepare for evacuation. Early today the storm had top winds of 160 miles-per-hour. Chair of Louisiana State University's Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences and an expert on extreme climate and weather phenomena, Dr. Jill Trepanier, joins to share what the latest advisory says about Hurricane Beryl. Dr. Jill tells us what folks in Jamaica, Mexico and Texas should expect when it makes landfall. She explains how rare it is to see a category 5 hurricane this early in the season and what the reason is.
