Holy Toledo! The last time I heard the opening theme or the bumper for this was back when it was on the air. I've always had that tune in my head and I thought for sure I'd never hear it again. Thanks for posting! 🙂

Mr. Simms was heard on the first of these examples; Gaylord Avery seems to have done the rest. This was before they settled on Allen Berns. A 1973 "Friday Night Movies" open had Dave Campbell as V/O. Of course, there was also Norm Stevens, Pat Connell, Stuart Metz, Bill Martin, Roger Forster, Wally King, Lee Jordan, Harry Kramer, Bob Hite . . .

Chicago's CBS affiliate once used the old CBS movie theme for it's Late Night Movie show back in the 70's.

The theme is similar to the one they used for the CBS Late Movie from 1972-84 and the regular prime time (CBS Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, etc. Night) movie intro from 1972-78, just at a slower tempo (with a less urgent sound).

I am 61 years old and I remember as a very young boy this theme. It was written by Morton Stevens, but I wish I new the name of the theme. Does anybody know? If so, let me know.

Rafer Johnson is the brother of former San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame cornerback Jim Johnson (1961-76). He was a great track and field legend.

@@armorybrunotjr.3204 Yes! I agree. Since discovering who he was/is, I'm bedazzled that he never went pro-NBA/NFL/MLB (MLB outfielder). I only meant, by saying, "he was just a glorified cameo", that his Olympic feats, 4 years earlier, only got him that role in THE PIRATES OF TERATOGA.
