In fall of 1971 I was a senior on our football team in the mud along the NW Canadian Border. I was the Starting center, and a defensive tackles. A lot of the interior line played offense and defense. Unknown to us, we were destined for the championship game at the end of the season. But for now we were, cold, wet, muddy and bloody..and we would sing this song on the way off the field. Sounded a lot more like a New Orleans funeral dirge coming from us. But it kept our spirits high. Always brings back Glory Day memories for me!
