In the military barracks in Germany, around 1971, high as a kite on hashish. This song playing on a thousand dollar stereo setup, bass turned up, the band crawls inside your head and makes itself at home. You are one with the music. 5 or 6 guys in the room , no one saying a word, all just knodding our heads to the beat. Thousands of miles away from home, but we are at peace with the world.

Another wonderful example of the overwhelming musical talent of the 60's and 70's. This band and it's music was overshadowed by other bands marketing machines. But real music NEVER dies and this is an example of talented musicians / writers making REAL music that's timeless. That's why we're all still enjoying this music in 2023, because it's timeless and REAL!

This song crafted when whites emulated sounds and rhythms unfamiliar to them outwardly. But inwardly they resonated to these 'new chops' and mellowed out and cut loose. We were taught this by the GODS, themselves. Try to call one of them goofy-assed Sambo now, and fear the asswhipping!

They still make music like this, but mainstream radio stations rather play music which the masses can consume and don't trigger responses of inspiration or admiration. Just like modern art and architecture slowly replacing true masterpieces. We are approaching the state of the world sketched by Aldous Huxley in Brave New World and people longing for true artistry are slowly but certainly becoming the feared minority.

Absolutely some of the best music ever made. Sadly, "screaming" instead of actually having a voice and singing took over and then "rap" came along and it was all downhill from there. Rare are the songs these days that are worthwhile actually listening to, music wise, skill wise, lyric wise.

I was 11 almost 12 when I first heard Rare Earth back in 1970. Pete and the men of this band blew me away. Pete the great drummer he is, could also belt out a tune. Especially on this song. Now that's talent to play drums and also sing. John Parrish (Persh) killed it on the bass. His solo knocked my boots off. It's a shame he was an underrated bass player. Every one got a turn to solo on this song to show their skills and talent. Great job. My favorite song ever in my life time and I'm now 65.

Am now 63 years old, back then without rare earth the party is going no where and any discotheque without rare earth is always a failure back then in Warri the oil booming city of Nigeria. Today the sound is still very solid in my ears. The guys did there homework very well before the release of this album. I commend all their efforts.

I'm from communist Cuba where by decree it was all forbidden American music but we kids always found a way to be a step ahead of the game. Well, one of the luckiest days of my life a friend invited me over to check on some reel to reel tapes his father has brought home from East Germany, there I discovered Rare Earth and the Bird Song, it was like a new day has just dawned on me..!! From there I kept on going to listen to Led Zeppelin, AeroSmith, Black Sabbath and some many others that will make this list unfathomably long, from there on I kept on rocking on..!!

I was 17yo in 1974 when I got to see rare earth along with several other bands like the eagles, deep purple, black sabbath, elp and earth wind and fire while attending California Jam 1. Two hits of window pane (those who know know), less than half a football field away with a path to get to the stage. It was a crazy time and being reminded of them through the music on KZbin that randomly pop up that I haven't heard in possibly decades triggering that in my life is amazing. I believe if my memory serves me well that this song woke everyone one up.

this funky rendition of the Temptations "Get Ready" took the communities for a ride as Rare Earth showed that there was more to the song and it played well especially since the Temptations were having issues keeping it together. Hats off to this rendition of Get Ready it is funky and pure and all the way live!

My early days in the Corps as well as being married I had a 79 Superglide that absolutely hated me. Could ride it to base one day and it wouldn't start the next day. I had a blue 8 track with a picture of a brown backpack on it. One side they would come up and say, "We're just gonna do about 20 or 30 minutes of Get Ready." Would play that over and over in the garage while drinking beer and cussing at the Superglide trying to figure out the wiring harness. Love Rare Earth man.

@Erasmo Rene Gonzalez yes everything comes back. Vinyl Records, Turntables, high quality Tape Decks (own a Yamaha KX-480) just saw a Guitar documentary. History of Guitar (comments german, people and explanations american) like John Kay Steppenwolf. And I discovered Cherry Glazerr there. New young but powerfull. Vintage 80s, 90s Indie, Alternative, Punk but melodic. She did quite a lot of european Gigs but roughly not over 40.000 clicks til now. My fav one Ohio kzbin.info/www/bejne/omise2p5n9OqpMk
