First of all the passion, the fight, the love of all things on this earth. To be grateful. Amazing story and film and photography. I love this film. My husband passed from GBM last year on Ash Wednesday. We have a business together. 4 beautiful children. A rockin daughter in law. GBM took his life in 9.5 months. He would never talk about it. He shut down. He shut us out. I believe in community. Relationships. Love of all things. Grateful for God. He does things for us not to us. More ppl need to help. I want to help. Please tell me what I can do for you. Your strength is amazing. You are a beautiful person inside and out. God is so proud of you. Your strength and this film is helping me be stronger and to realize I need to start living again for my family, friends and myself. Thank you from the bottom of heart. Grateful ❤🙏

The parallels between your journey and mine are shocking. Seizure, surgeries, radiation, chemo, clean scan, recurrence, more surgery, more medications, etc. My 12 month anniversary is in two days. F this! You, and I. We’re both rare enough to beat this damn thing! You keep skating, I’m going to keep hiking in the mountains. Screw cancer and live with a smile on your face loving every moment. Right on.

There's a lot of details that could have been included in this story that would be helpful to other folks with this disease. They would have done advanced genetic testing on the tumour, for example if it is IDH mutated, it means it almost certainly evolved from a low-grade astrocytoma. They respond better to treatment and have overall longer survival periods, more in line with what you're seeing. They are now referred to as a grade IV astrocytoma and not glioblastoma. Pure GBM is primary, also known as IDH wild-type, which begins as grade IV, more common in older folks, they generally have the very short lifespan you mentioned of 1-2 years. It's a different entity with a different mutation chain, but the titles have been interchangeable, only until recently (2021) the world health organization updated the definitions based on genetic mutations. It's also possible to have a tumour that is 90% low grade, with a small focal area of transformation to grade 3 or 4, which gets completely removed during the surgery, leaving behind cancer cells that continue forward as low grade, imparting possibly 10-20 years of survival, yet because a small cluster of high grade was found in the biopsy or resection, it is defined overall as grade 4 and rightfully treated as such, but then those folks exceed expectations significantly, surprising everyone. There are so many nuances to this disease. There are people with classically defined GBM that are beyond 15 years of survival, but when they've re-tested their stored tumour cells, they've found certain mutations such as IDH that somewhat explains their long-term survival and great response to treatment. source: I have a grade 2 IDH mutated astrocytoma and spent 3 years reading almost every scientific paper published on the topic, have had 3 craniotomies, met about 10 neurosurgeons and neuro-oncologists from around the world and underwent experimental radiation treatment in Europe at my own behest. Try not to smash Optune devices my dude, they're bloody expensive and cost $20k a month just to hire (if you're lucky enough for insurance to pay for it). We can't even get them here in Australia, we're behind the curve on almost everything. Keep kicking ass! You're an inspiration.

The video wasnt really meant to be a medical advice piece because we arent doctors. Ryan just wanted to share my story and help me spread light in a dark time. Im sorry you somehow found negatives in the coolest thing to ever happen to me but im not sweating it, Im here if you ever need anything and best of luck on your journey! #FUCKCANCER
