Rare footage from the frontline as Ukrainian troops battle with Russian troops near Kyiv

The Ukrainian military has released recent footage said to show soldiers in combat with Russian troops in the village of Moschun, northwest of Kyiv.
In video released on Sunday, Ukrainian soldiers are firing mortar missiles and preparing a drone, while aerial images showed damage in the village near the town of Hostomel.
Reuters was able to verify the location of aerial footage to Moshchun and the Irpin River close by. It was not able to verify the ground shots or establish on what date the footage was filmed.
U.S. satellite firm Maxar said images on Friday (March 11) showed multiple homes and buildings on fire and widespread damage in Moschun.

It's kind of weird how militaries have just now started to realize the potential of small drones. They are small, lightweight, very quiet, have good range and battery life, can be carried and operated by an individual soldier, are very hard to spot or shoot down and can be started and operated from pretty much everywhere. And they are absolutely cheap in comparison to what military equipment usually costs. Even a $2000 drone is nothing in military terms. I think it's only a matter of time until we'll see wide spread adoption of 5"/6" (propeller diameter) drones in many military units. It's like 1kg more payload which you have to carry around but the value it offers in return is immense. War is won with logistics and intelligence data.

@@CHEVYbarracuda1 Sure, but I think it was in Syria (not sure, haven't verified) when the first small drones were actually used for more than recon, where they rigged up a DJI to drop mortar rounds on top of enemy positions. Larger drones have been dropping munitions for years now, but I think Max was just talking about the little commercial drones. Personally, I'd rather have a squadron of FPV racing drones each with a pound of RDX onboard, use them like a guided mortar round and fly it straight into whatever you need to splode. There's not much you can do to avoid something like that besides having someone that's really good at skeet shooting defending your position.

These soldiers are very good coming from an soldier myself. They are quiet , patient, composed and work well together. They’re fearless and that is what makes a good military. On the ground, they will win. The air strikes are the only things that can stop them. The Russian ground forces are failing. I don’t even think they’ve picked up enough reconnaissance on the Ukrainians before invading which is their first mistake.

@Richard Marsden Russia did same scenario in Moldova already in 1990. When recently president of Moldova asked Lavrov to take russian soldiers out, he called her irresponsible. This war happened before an NATO expansion excuse, later same scenario was applied to Georgia and Ukraine. Russian economy has already crashed, what a loosers.
