Wow! I have a few of the almost "unknown" old ones: Two Arc Bodies (35mm and 45mm) that is like a mini view camera. Also a Flex body and SWC 903.

@@NicosPhotographyShow Yes, all like new, the Arc Body comes in a high end Tundra equipment case with Hasselbal ArcBody in metal on the outside and those Rodenstock View camera lens optics give a dimension to image making that the optics for a reflex mirror type camera can never have. The rear lens element is almost touching the film plane on the 35mm. I have always kept them in our vault at the studio.

Nico, the word you are stuttering at is center filter, it darkens the center to expose correct for the angular light fall off that happens, so you get a consistant exposure edge to edge.

Also Nico, you miss out the H-system, aka the H-1 and it's HM16-32 film backs, and the HTS1.5 tilt/shift adaptor, which is also classed as a 'rare' camera, as it is not seen to often in camera stores, or out of studio's.

Do you think there are any advantages to the Arcbody over a lightweight and compact 4x5 field camera (Intrepid, KBCanham, etc.). The Arcbody is so expensive and at the end of the day you only have a 6x6 negative to work with. Great video.
@NicosPhotographyShow
@NicosPhotographyShow 5 жыл бұрын
Its hard to see a benefit today, mostly the price per shot on roll film vs 4x5. And the lenses are probably made to show detail on the small 6x6 negative. But price wise its hard to justify. But if I could I would totally have an Arcbody with me.

When shooting architecture, will the Flexbody work better with a 645 film back?

It would as the circle would be bigger than the 645 image.

Primero :-). Nice video. Believe it or not I sold all my film cameras except for one 35mm and invested in a darkroom class. What’s your opinion on the prism finder for the 500cm? I’m going to go back to medium format at some point and considering it but a prism would be a must...

@@CertainExposures I have a 45° metered prism for mine, but I tend to use the WLF more. It's not dim (especially if using a bright modern focusing screen), but it's really heavy; the newer 90° ones are even bigger.

Just an FYI you cannot use Hasselblad lenses on the Arcbody, only the three specific Rodenstock lenses work.

@@NicosPhotographyShow Hi there Nico - just jumping in here. The Rodenstocks are the only lenses that will work on the Arcbody. 35, 45, 70. The reason is simply down to projection. The 5x4 inspired lenses were made by Cambo (same company currently making the Phase One XT lenses 12K+ each!!). When you tilt and shift you will require an image circle larger than 6x6. The Hass lenses have an image circle larger than 6x6 but they project to a focal plane equal to the box of the camera -ie from back of lens to image plane and they cannot be placed nearer. The Rodenstocks are equal to 5x4 in image circle but because of this it is vital to use the centre filter - (the X-Pan works best with a centre filter too), to ensure that even exposure is achieved across the entire frame. Interestingly this camera works best with a 645 back as you can still get blocks in the frame when T+S'ing. But what works best of all is the new digital back; the CFV50II on both the Flexbody and the Arcbody as it allows even more freedom of movement due to its small frame size equivalent - and of course there is no need to insert focus screens, viewfinders and then a back in succession. A word about the Phase One XT - this system works best with 150MPX back buuuuuut - because the back was designed for the XF system and is a full frame medium format sensor you cannot achieve full tilt and shift with any of the lenses at present but stay tuned as they are literally about to announce a couple of exciting additions...... I have not told you this!!!!!! I use the following in my professional work. H6D100 with Tilt and Shift adaptor, a 907x with Arcbody. and close up rings a Flexbody, a Linhof Tech, and of course the little baby X1DII. And if you are in London make a visit to The House Of Photography in Covent Garden where you can view my completely preserved Fuji GX680III camera and E V E R Y lens and accessory which I donated to them. Hope that helps.Simon

Does anyone know if you can use the Xpan lenses on other Hasselblad systems? It was mentioned they are actually medium format lenses on a 35mm camera, so I started wondering. I own both the 45mm and 90mm and am looking to buy a medium format body from Hasselblad to use it on (analog preferably, the X1D is an option but it's out my reach).
@NicosPhotographyShow

You cant use them on other Hasselblad cameras. Not sure about the new digital bodies but maybe one can.
@Niele160
@Niele160 3 жыл бұрын
@@NicosPhotographyShow Thx for clearing that up. You can use them on the X1D systems with an adapter which costs around $150-200. They're pretty expensive though and will decline in price over the years so it's not a good investment overall.
