J. Shrinath was the best bowler from Indian side. He bowled superbly in this tournament. He had beaten top class batsmen hundred times. Many catches were dropped. Many a times benefit of doubt was given to the batsman by the umpire. Otherwise he could have taken atleast 20-30 wickets more.

For those people who like to compare Lara and Tendulkar. Both in their early teens, equal amount of experience. Perfect match for comparison - Tendulkar had equal talent like Lara, ability to spot the ball quickly and time it to perfection. Sadly, Tendulkar had to face Ambrose and was simply outclassed by the giant bowler while Lara had the luxury of some weak bowling. Another thing to Lara advantage was the presence of world class partner who could decimate any attack - Haynes, Richardson etc.

Incorrect. Like Richards practiced against Marshall/Holding/Garner/Roberts, Lara too had to face Ambrose and Walsh in the nets to sharpen his skills apart from the fact his best ODI performances came against two of THE greatest ODI bowlers of all-time namely wasim akram and Allan Donald in addition to Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne, Shaun Pollock, waqar younis and saqlain mushtaq. True Sachin didn't get to practice against high quality bowling owing to his rise coinciding with Kapil Dev's penultimate years in international cricket and yet he scored heavily against the above mentioned bowlers, it doesn't mean Lara had it easy coming and going.

Those days a score of around 220 was considered to be a match winning score if there was quality fast bowlers and spinners in your arsenal apart from kapil dev india had no bowling resources to fall upon

Pakistan was also helped by other results and nature..In their group match against England,Pakistan batted 1st and got all out for just 74 runs..But rain abandoned that match and they got a crucial point..Australia did a favour to Pakistan by beating West Indies in their last group match..
