Rare John Deere Tractor! 1 of 73! Made in 1972!

My Dad bought a 1972 4020 Diesel back in 1973. My brother has it now. Still looks great, very reliable and able to do a days work today.

My grandad had a 3020 … it wasn’t the biggest tractor but I always loved the way it looked with duals on it.

What a beautiful 3020!!!! Growing up, my big farming neighbors, they had a 3010 diesel and one gas, wide fronts. I spent many hours on both, these were the tractors that mostly operated the balers, my friends grew about 200 acres of straight alfalfa, about the same in mixed hay, and 2-300 acres of straw from barley and wheat production, They also grew about 100 acres of Rye of long rye straw, for the high end horse industry, they actually are still farming there in central New Jersey horse and farm country. Both of the 3010's were great to operate, almost never had any issues, except I remember one time the transmission shifter jammed or something when I got on the main road, and would not go into any gear!! One of my favorite jobs on the 3010 was pulling a four row rear mounted cultivator to chisel in fertilizer for side dressing corn, the secret was to never look back once you got going, you always look forward and go as fast as you can drive!!! I am sure the Green magazine folks in Bee, Nebraska could give you alot more data on that tractor and numbers ever produced. Good luck selling, I wish I could afford to buy this, but it will bring alot of cash I am sure!!!

The only problem with the 3020 gas !!!! She is awful thirsty, she will eat gas like there is no tomorrow!!!!! Great looking tractor, really nice !!

Wore out a early 3020 diesel yrs ago ,good tractor but they did have weak cranks in them , i know that from experience

That's a very clean 3020. I remember many of my neighbors had 3020 gas tractors but not sure the make year. Did you go to the Bob Gabeline estate sale ? His sale lasted a week if I remember correctly, lots of Green machines and a couple of barns full of restored antique cars and trucks. Southeast Iowa

I had a 3010D, just curious, does your 3020 still have the 3rd reverse gear? My 3010D did, wished I had kept it, it was basically a 3020 after the overhaul that was done to it yrs ago.

That's a nice 3020. I didn't know they made a front end like that. I thought from what you said in your other video it might be a powershift. They didn't make a lot of 3020 gas powershift either.

You said the front end has been changed so its not original. You can take the tack apart dry it out and reseal i would have a great day.

@@jamesmorrison1884 well since I didn’t have the narrow front that was originally under it it made sense to put a proper 72 wide front underneath it. Better property that way instead of being a narrow front.

My dads 1969 3020 gas has a front axle like that. Maybe his started as a narrow front and was switched. I know it has single clamping bolts.
