This was MM's first and only house. She was thrilled about redecorating it when she was suddenly found dead from an apparent "suicide." Anyone who believes that fairy tale doesn't know much about suicidal people... they don't go around buying new homes and get excited about fixing them up. In any event, thanks for sharing this footage, I've never seen it before.

This was sad to watch, especially the photos with all the police standing around her property. You know they're there because she is dead and probably still in the house. Her house seemed warm, cozy and inviting. I hope she had some peace and solace while living there. I picture her enjoying the sun, relaxing by the pool or maybe sitting in the living room reading a book. I "see" her laying back on the sofa with her feet propped up on the edge of the coffee table while talking on the phone. Maybe she's in the yard, laying on that chaise lounge with her little dog in her lap while she playfully pets it. It looked like a nice place to come home to after a long, hectic day on the set. A retreat to escape to, all her own, bought with her hard-earned money. And behind those gates no one could touch her or abuse her. Poor woman. Yes, this was sad to watch.

The kind of house I would expect from Marilyn.laid back, untidy, lived in,relaxed, maybe a little bohemian! there was more to Marilyn, than was visible, in her screen persona, Marilyn, thought a lot!

Martlyn was far from the dumb blonde, a lot believed her to be, she read a lot,Russian writers, like Dostoyevsky, she soaked it all up, she was a deep thinker,and very sensitive, she wanted to be seen as a serious actress, I think had she of lived, we would have seen her in more challenging roles!

I wish I knew you Peter, you really are amazing. I love seeing all of these personal touches, the candles on her table, the books, all the wood in her home, her purse on the floor. These are so very intimate and the music is always perfect. I realize that these photos came from the day she passed on, but this is done with honor and love and whoever you are, you obviously have tremendous access to extremely personal moments. Thank you for sharing them in such a beautiful classy way... I really appreciate knowing this part of her.

Watching this video a second time and I can imagine her in every room! On a cold night in front of the fireplace, maybe writing in her diary about the day she had. Sitting at the kitchen table while Eunice pours her a cup of coffee, she's looking out the window at her little dog in the yard. I "hear" her padding around the house at night because she can't sleep and she goes into the kitchen to get a drink. At the blue tiled counter she sips her drink while flipping through a magazine. I don't know what her bathroom looked like but I can imagine her there, fixing her hair, getting ready for the journalist to arrive at her house and interview her. Or she has just arrived home, very late and after saying "good night' to Eunice, she enters her bedroom, kicks off her shoes and places her black handbag on the floor near the door. I'm inspired now and I think I'll use this video to spur my imagination while I write a short story about her! Maybe I'll call it: Cursum Perficio. But in my story she's finally free and living in that house forever.

although she seemed like a very lonely person I don't believe she killed herself , towards the end of her life she looked physically the best shape of her life and she appeared very positive and she seemed to have a maturity about her as she got older , she was a fabulous actress and I'm pretty sure she would of gone on to do amazing roles in her acting but unfortunately life and some people dealt her a very bad hand but she was truly amazing . Maybe, maybe not true but I've read that Marilyn wanted to make her home look like the home of her psychiatrist Dr. Greenson. I've read in a couple of Architectural Digest's "Hollywood at Home" issues how Marilyn went through most of her life owning almost nothing. Maybe she would have become a minimalist. Maybe not entirely by choice but Marilyn Monroe seems to have been a forerunner of the minimalist movement of today. I'm something of a minimalist myself: looks like I'm in good company!

Dear Clarice, yes odd, but it was a too turbulent time otherwise, with losing Century Fox, the Kennedys, and all the stress and efforts she had to go through..it was exhausting her...and she had chronic sinusitis...
@AnnaLee33
@AnnaLee33 9 жыл бұрын
cubomania3 You're not telling me anything new. However, AT FIRST, she had strong existential fear, after Century fox fired her, although later resolved. She had to mobilize all her strength, -while having a chronic inflammation-to fight for her existance.. It meant a lot of stress for her. She drank too much. Stress does damage, whether it is resolved later on or not. Cortisol level goes up and other hormonal changes occur. All that affect immunity, heart, etc. and chronic sinusitis causes a general fatigue. All these factors weaken the overall resilience. I'm working in a medical profession, so take my word for it. The sum of her stress with Fox, the Kennedys, combined with a chronic imflammation, plus her alcohol and barbiturate consume weakened her, immensily.

cubomania3 I don't need to be HER doctor to know that she was in a dimished state of health. I think it's highly possible, the Kennedys played a fatal role in her death, though.

Cute place to stay and calm....Sorry that she lost her beautiful life!....hugs!....I love both marilyn and Jane Russell!...Jane was so good to her and did her best for her. She felt bad that she did not invite her at the time of Marilyn's death. Jane was with her girlfriends at the beach in Malibu (south of my home about 20 minutes) and had no idea what happened to Marilyn. They were best friends and made her feel more sad. She abandoned Hollywood and moved on to be humbled. She couldn't afford the mansion in Beverly Hills or wherever since she left her job and abandoned the studios in Hollywood. She did not care and enjoyed her simple life....I like about her!

Actually, I don't think Marilyn was into cooking...she was so busy with other things that Eunice Murray was in charge of preparing her meals. I think the kitchen was already in the house when she bought it Kitchens are so hard to "move out".

Why is it that the whole house was immaculate and in order except for the bedroom. I wonder if it was ransacked after her death.
@aerialkate
@aerialkate 10 жыл бұрын
Yep, I noticed that too. If we believe Deborah Gould then Peter Lawford 'swept' the house in search of evidence implicating Bobby Kennedy in terms of an inappropriate relationship. Then again there were police, doctors, medics traipsing through...

...And another terrible misconception commonly written about Marilyn in various books and articles was that here was this poor, mentally sick woman who lived in virtual seclusion in an almost totally unfurnished home. These photographs show that the house was almost completely decorated and tastefully furnished when these photographs were snapped. Boy, there were some real fabrications going on about MM then, probably with the aide of Fox to try to portray her as a very disturbed woman.

Anytime I seem to watch anything about Marilyn Monroe I seem to get really down, not just for a few mins but for the whole day, Justice needs to be served for her death, or there needs to be questions answered. Somebody knows something! A star as big as her wouldn't just kill herself as she had so much to live for! Weather she had a mental illness but did it really go that far too kill herself I doubt it 😤

i like how they call it an over dose. it look like she fought with some one who ebter her house. she fought i think they drowned her. you can tell by her face and hair. all her hair is matted and wet. she had a bruise on her back. her bed was all messed up. a crack on the window. so some one forced their way in while she was still up and in another room. they dragged her on that bed moved things around too make it look like she over dosed. they tamperd with pills and her drinks. they dont have the stuff we have no too solve cases.and they still dont solve cases.like the show bones and stuff. her murder would of been solved all ready but no. a hit man came in an killed her.and i dont think she knew who they were too. alot of strugging involved.

Really?? the crack on the window was apparently caused by her "companion/housekeeper" Mrs. Murray in an attempt to enter the bedroom, you need to read some of the facts in this case, just saying

Greg Rak I think it's like JFK's assassination. Maybe a handful of people know exactly what happened and the rest of us can only theorize. I am not the only one who thinks that because Marilyn was often drunk and unpredictable, the Kennedys worried she might spill the beans on them. But again, it's a theory.
@omagine
@omagine 10 жыл бұрын
that's a pretty elaborate story. The sad thing is it's just as possible that she accidentally od'd, or purposely did so in a very bad emotional downswing. The likelihood of the feds offing her and making it look suicidal is equally strong, because of her knowing too much. And they could cover it up very well. Either way almost doesn't matter, because she's gone and we can't bring her back. There is a lot to learn from her life, so it seems to me to be more important to focus on that than how it ended, which we will NEVER know for sure.
@gregrak9389
@gregrak9389 10 жыл бұрын
what is so "elaborate"? my view is that she probably overdosed by accident, perhaps realized what she did, too late, and tried to call for the help, accidental overdoses are quite common, sadly, to individuals who abuse drugs, I think this is a more likely scenario than Miss Monroe intentionally committing suicide, either way, nothing sinister happened, the BS about the Kennedys is simply beyond comprehension, not one CREDIBLE source exists to back any of that up, period.

Not sure on what happened but I do see the window broke, looks to small to be a man's hand,not to meantiin the wrist that fellows below. with that all sharp piece of glass left there and the sharpness of the thumb nail. it looks like a woman's left hand smashed the window from inside and she then slipped sideways leaving her wrist and arm in the break and wouldn't a man's hand, wrist and forearm be bigger. ? I also noticed that the Lach is on the second window from the bottom on the left hand side. why not hit that one. so as I am looking and it's backing up showing us better, I look up pass the second window on the left side and noticed a woman's face with short hair, waves and piercing eyes just looking out. Not to meantion smoke like shapes in the following frames. just saying guys. God rest her soul.
