Because Montreal official is so corrupted to buy from France their poorly invented rubber tyre technology. So basically this happens like each week. This rubbish technology keeps running speed low, with high noise, high repair rate, high replacement cost, high maintenance cost, high personnel cost and high disturbance. On top of that, they never announce anything in english so all tourist don’t know nothing and keep waiting, exploiting their trip.

The Montreal metro also has a set of steel wheels under the train. All of the switching is done using those steel wheels. In an emergency, they can be used to get the metro back to the depot.

Excellent video! The advantages of having a rubber wheel are that the trains can accelerate with more propulsion and are very useful for steep slopes, the disadvantages are that they wear out very quickly, they are expensive, they get punctured at all times, they can cause fires like in CDMX, etc. . That is why it is advisable to have steel wheels because they have many benefits! Greetings from Venezuela! VE CAN

The Azur trains also have batteries so they can run even if there is no current on the electrified rail, in case of emergency...
@jimmydandy9364
@jimmydandy9364 4 ай бұрын
There is battery backup power, enough to get the train to the nearest station at low speed during an outage. There was no reason for them to use battery power anyway, they would need actual power to bring the train to the parking area for maintenance. The late announcement was clearly a serous oversight, and could have been fatal if there were workers on the track still making contact with the guiding bar (3rd rail).

I don't think the flat tire is the problem. The wheels are designed to "fall" onto the tracks (if they lose support from the rest of the bogie) using the steel rim used for the brakes. I was in Paris with the same cars and they sometimes "fall" onto the rails when certain construction works is being done on the roadway for the tires.
@Asakha1

The problem is if the tire is flat, it can get out of the rim and cause much more problem, hence why there's a guy at the open door to keep an eye on the tire.

How tf can a electric train even blew a tire ?
@andrewweitzman4006
@andrewweitzman4006 6 ай бұрын
Same like a car: debris on the rollway, hot spot, wearing down, etc. It's a known risk, which is why there are conventional tracks between the rollways that interact with steel train wheels on the axle to catch the train when a tire blows. The rubber tire system imported from Paris was used because at the time the tires offered better acceleration and far better climbing performance on steep grades (when dealing with the elevation changes up and down the Falaise and up the shoulders of Mount Royal).

You're obviously not from Montreal to say this is RARE. lol! Every time I take the Metro there's a stoppage or a slowdown, for multiple reasons. It no wonder people are mad. They are sick and tired of being late because of the Metro. We thought that it would get better with the implementation of the AZUR trains but unfortunately, things didn't really change that much. Plus now, the Metro is probably one of the least safe place in Montreal.
