Today's car is the first and only first-generation Mark II GSS I have ever seen. It's slightly larger than the early, shovel nose Corona hardtops, and features the 1858cc 10R DOHC engine. The grill has the look of the Toyota 1600GT's of the late 1960's (also shovel noses, but not technically).

I found Wasabi car when looking at videos concerning US muscle cars abandonned in Japan. You are staying in a region where I lived (Kurume shi / Mii Machi / Fukuoka Ken), we share identical interests, I subscribed. Not only cars, I like your style, your kindness, your care and respect for the local habits. Sweet memories. Keep going Daniel.

Had a four door inline6 version of this car. Very unusual, reasonably quick and honestly I wish I kept it. The downside was the gas tank was literally up inside the trunk, hung mid-air, behind the rear seat. Sold it since I knew it would be a very hot wait until the Fire Dept arrived to remove my crispy corpse....in the case of a rear end collision.

As a child of the 60s growing up in Japan I only recall the Toyopet brand in Japan not hearing the Toyota name until moving to Hawai'i in 1966. One of my uncles had a little Toyopet sedan with the oval grill. I remember when the Corona Mark IIs first came out and I instantly fell in love with the design, a big improvement over the original Coronas in my opinion. Those 2 door Corona Mark IIs were still a common sight in the mid 1970s during my high school days with a couple students driving hopped up versions adding Weber Carbs and headers. The US models came only with the 1.9 liter 8R motors which were smooth but not that powerful. Beautiful example you show us there, thank you for sharing. Seeing these oldies brings back good memories of younger daze. 8-)

The corona mkii is probably my favourite classic Japanese car, it's a close one between the te27 sprinter and ra28 celica (I am biased towards Toyota)- there's just something special about the shape of the corona... gorgeous cars. I've seen one in my life (in Western Sydney, of all places) and i fell in love immediately. as for discovering wasabicars, jeez... probably stumbled across it years ago looking up hakosuka or ae86 videos, but one of the earliest videos I remember watching was the ae86 levin notchback with the flip over grill (flips to reveal fog lights and a different badge I think? twin cam 16 on one side, levin on the other?)

I usually look at older American Muscle cars videos and I Believe your Video of the 1970 1/2 Z/28 camaro was suggested by youtube. I do occasionally look at videos about Classic Japanese "Muscle" / "Sportscar" era (Toyota GT2000, 240Z, 510 Datsuns ) that interest me mostly for the historical preservation/ knowledge and achievements. Those videos may have also been the reason it was suggested. ( Honestly I'm more interested in the late 80's to mid 90's Japanese Kraziness that had most brands creating AWD, Turbo, Homologated Rally spec cars) That all being said Dan, You do your thing. I appreciate your interest in 50's to 70's classic ANYTHING Japanese, or Australian that I normally won't look at, with a bit size history of the car. I appreciate your passion for the unique, and rare whatever year it was made.

How did I discover? I had bought a 1971 Toyota Corona here in Canada & your channel came up throughout my various searches looking up info on it & other Toyotas. All the best from Canada EH;~)

About 3 years ago I first saw The Z28 Camaro on the other channel and than I saw some videos from this channel. I think one of the first videos I saw after I subscribed was URAS R34 Skyline or Sepia collection Nissan Cedric 1900 I am not sure... I know for sure that I was subscribed when you uploaded the Corona double cab pickup thing.
