As someone that is currently studying in the field of geology this really peaked my interest. I have never heard anything about or even thought of trees in the path of lava flows and it makes me wonder if there are any examples of this from millions of years ago fossilized in stone. This was really neat!

That was so cool. Seeing the bark patterns that stayed in the lava was amazing. The tree growing up through the hole left by the previous tree shows mother nature's resilience. Thanks for this video.

The Lava tree forest was fascinating to see. Like looking at sculptures and nature is so forgiving. Life being reborn again in that part of your video of a lava tree stump and down the bottom fern growing, the blackness of the lava and greenness of the fern, that was amazing to see. Also the tree sapling growing from out of the old tree trunk which was burnt by the lava. Nature is forgiving and it has a way of re growth from a disaster re birthing again. Thanks for sharing Chris!

Next time your on Oahu you should try an hike to “Battery Arizona “ which is on the southwest side, above the Kahe Point power station. It is a WW2 coastal artillery site that was constructed using one of the two surviving turrets from the USS Arizona. The other turret was used in Battery Pennsylvania which was located on the Mokapu peninsula which is now Marine Corps Base Hawaii. Although the guns are long gone, much of the facilities are largely intact and very well preserved. It is several levels deep and very large. There are some videos of KZbin of others that have visited the site. It is on private property, but what isn’t here on Oahu.
