It depends on what area they’re in. But they do bloom every year. Specifically, the stalk that grows once the bottom the yucca matures. That aloe looking piece takes about 30 years. After that it blooms every year. This lady just finally had hers long enough.

Im an arborist- sometimes ill see a dying tree, but a caring homeowner will say "but it cant be dying, it had more flowers than ever this year!" Its always rough to break the news that some trees will invest all their energy in trying to reproduce instead of growing when they sense they are about to die.

Less than a month later the “cactus” starts growing and was taller than her house. She took it as a sign that he was happy for her and her starting a new phase of her life. Fixed it.

ITS NOT A CACTUS 🌵 IT IS CALLED AGAVE OR MAGUEY ( or also called Century Plant ) LIVES BETWEEN 10-30 YEARS DEPENDING ON THE AREA AND WEATHER AND BLOOMS ONLY ONE TIME IN ITS WHOLE LEFE AND IT HAPPENS AT THE END OF ITS LIFE CYCLE, AND DIES AFTER THE BLOOMS GETS MATURE ENOUGH TO LET SEEDS POP AND SPREAD OUT. AND IF YOU DONT KNOW, THIS PLANT IS WHERE THE TEQUILA IS MADE FROM. SO AS YOU CAN IMAGINE THIS PLANT IS CULTIVATED A LOT IN MEXICO AROUND THE AREAS WHERE TEQUILA IS PRODUCED.

In 1987, I got to see, in real life, the bloom of a Century Plant. It was beautiful from what we could see because it was getting dark. From what I remember the bloom was gone the next morning and within a few days the entire plant was gone. I had never heard of the plant until it bloomed and my elderly neighbors told us about the plant.

My parents have a similar yucca plant that used to bloom every year- its chute would grow and spread to the curb- 10 or so feet. Then it stopped blooming in spring at around 2005. Then last year, it grew 20+ feet. Same thing that happened to this lady. But there hasn't been a press release for that plant.

When the plant stem shoots up tall, and the buds bloom.....it looks lime nothing lve ever seen. When the top is in full bloom it is so beautiful. This one hasnt matured completely yet. My Mawmaw p,anted 1 little shoot and it grew into a huge bush with hunderds of shoots and its been 30 years now but it hasnt done its tall shoot yet. I saw 1 blooming way up high and its so amazinly beautiful.....the very tops get so pretty like no other plant. They call them century plants, probably because it really takes forever b4 they shoot up.
