I have only 1 E Preston tool. An antique wooden plough plane. I do wish I had more. I do have a fun oil can as well. Its a Gem Mfg. Co. Pittsburgh oil can. I bought it in pretty dirty shape, replaced the leather gasket, cleaned the metal and used BBs to shake out the particles of dried up oil that were inside. Then checked to make sure it was solid and filled it with machine oil. It works like a dream.

The old manufacturers were wonderful. Glad yours worked out. I hope this one holds Oil, without leaking.

Even their oil cans are beautiful...

I know. The more you look into Edward Preston tools, the more you realise how good they were. They were the Lie-Nielsens of their day.

It's still on my bench. Need to buy some oil and get it working. It'll look great after it's had a bit more use.

This is the problem with vintage tools. Besides working well, they are beautiful. Do I need one? No, the run of the mill id-20th century oilers I have are more than adequate. Do I want one? Oh, yes, sir, please sir!

An itch that needs scratching, every now and then. And to have beautiful things around you as you work 👍👍👍

Is it really that old. If so it's in excellent condition

It really is that old. I wonder if it's spent more time on a shelf in a workshop or shed, than being used frequently through the decades.
