A captivating video of a true labor of love. What a fine legacy for a man to one day leave to his family and countless admirers of these wonderful historic cars. Well done!

So refreshing to see a classic in as original condition as possible instead of LS swapped/THM350/24" rapper rims. Also loved it when dude was sanding in rhythm to Beck's "Tropicalia."

Nice! A 74 year old care ready to live further so future generations can see this Jewel! Best of luck enjoying it!

I'm 18 months older than the car. I'm certainly ready to live longer to let future generations see me. Not sure Jewel is the right description for me though. The car is in very good order. I'm in Australia. While there were certainly De Sotos of this age getting around as I grew old enough to remember such matter, I don't recall any Chryslers. If there were, I'd not be surprised if they were badge-engineered De Sotos or even Dodges.

First class. So much nicer to see restored to original rather than a garish resto-mod!

Wish we old-car lovers would all unite and start buying all the old cars we can so we can sell them to classic car lovers who would restore them to stock specifications. We did that in the 70s, we can do it again.

What a gorgeous car! I don't think I was even aware that Chrysler offered a New Yorker 2 door sedan post-war. If they only Built a little more than five hundred of them, no wonder I have never seen one before.

This is the only "restored as original" known to exist. I have seen a couple restomods. You know a car is rare when you can't find on on google images.

@@jimmarplediy2024 Please, "Restored to factory specs" is a better description. Original means just that - as the factory originally built it.

@@SuperKONR Firestone Deluxe Champion 8.20.15, 4 ply polyester tubeless. I love these cars. The art deco styling is wonderful. In 1973 I bought a 1948 Windsor that I found in a road ditch in front of an old country mercantile store in the Ozark Mountains, Arkansas. I paid $350. My dad helped me fix the brakes, changed the oil, cleaned the dry leaves caught between the muffler and floor pan and drove the heck out of it for four years. Sold it for $900 in 1977 and regretted that ever since but made up for that mistake in spades. Sold it to a nice middle class couple who wanted the car to show so I'm sure it survived. I have spent nearly $100,000 on 1948 Chryslers in the past five years with no regrets. Good luck to you with your Windsor.

I was last there five years ago and I think this is the same car that was there back then. Love the 1946-48 Chrysler products especially the New Yorkers and their purring straight 8 engines. Just 545 of these were built from 1946 until they ended production in early 1949. I am disappointed that we have to have music blocking out the car sounds. Very annoying and upsetting.

Too bad Chrysler handicapped that 324 engine with, of all things, a single-barrel carb in 47 - 50. With a proper 2 barrel, Chryslers were good performers.
