I, just, cannot see the actual point of fitting that RAF MPRV fire tender with both numerous blue flashing lights and a very loud wailing siren, if the driver is, still, not legally permitted to drive through a red stop traffic light, whilst responding to an emergency call. 🚒🚨

The RAF Driver was spot on with his driving. Unless any Fire Engine or Ambulance has a Police escort, they are not legally allowed to pass Red Lights. Yes they do on a daily basis and most drivers of other vehicles do give way to them but, those responders are breaking the law and, there have been a number of prosecutions where accidents have resulted. Blue lights and sirens are simply to make other road users aware, they do not allow priority. Only Police vehicles have that authority.

@@philyew3617 Police, fire, ambulance, bomb disposal and blood service can drive through a red traffic light and disregard a keep left sign if it would hinder progress and can be done so without endangering anyone. A rule of thumb is that a red traffic light should be considered as a give way sign. See section 36(b) www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2002/3113/regulation/36/made

Its was driver training, and if a plane crashes near the airport they do respond which means driving on the road so proper blues and twos, red lights are give ways for emergency vehicles.

I'm surprised how the vehicle crew respects the rules and stops. From my experience in continental Europe, they would drive anywhere and do anything to reach the destination as fast as possible. Driving on the wrong side of the road and ignoring traffic lights is just normal.

im not sure why they stopped here. other fire brigades definitely do ignore lights & drive on the wrong side of the road if safe

@@cemops8660 The UK has cracked down on these rules recently in all fairness, my second guess would be that its DFRS and a technically private company

They don’t have the same “rights” as a UK local authority FRS to claim exemptions from the road traffic act as I’m led to understand

@@CymruEmergencyResponder no they don’t… they did once along time ago. They changed to DFRMO and lost fire authority status. No they are capita who are a private company. The fire services Act dose not apply to them. I was DFRMO I am now local authority.

@Steven Cruesk not if you live around here or near any other RAF base. Two out all day today also out again tomorrow and Friday Rare means (an event, situation, or condition) not occurring very often. 😂😂

Driver will not be a cat 1 driver. coastguard local life brigades mountain rescue etc are cat 2 and must stop at all red lights. the local brigade ambulance police will be cat 1 allowing them to treat red light as a give way.

There isn't such a thing as a Cat 1 or 2 driver. It's the law that covers who can or cannot use the exemptions.

It's not actually legal for emergency services to go threw red lights or go over the speed limit but.they do it anyway

I suggest you look up the 4 legal exemptions for blue light driving...
