How fucking amazing is this video!!!!!!! Took me awhile to make, you can witness the sheer mastery of this great great cricketer, he single handedly keeps India in the contest, before he loses his cool and loses the match. Superb display of batting anyway, obliterates Glenn McGrath in the process. VINTAGE SACHIN FROM THE 90'S!!!!!!!

This was the first time I remember seeing Sachin Tendulkar play and consequently, the first time I'd see the Indian team play. That ball Mark Waugh got him out on was pure genius and was the turning point of the match

I remember McGrath initial stats 3 overs, 3 maidens. India had lost Sidhu and Jadeja as well. A little while later, McGrath's stats read 8 overs, 3 maidens, 48 runs.

@acgsrt Sachin sent everyones pulses racing back then, magical player when he was attacking. Pity those days ended a long time ago, his shot range was awesome.

" Those Days " did Not really end Long Time Ago..was There from 1989 to 2004 ( Till tennis Elbow Got Him ) for a Long Range of Period... Tennis Elbow & Other injuries kept Him down from 2004 Mid to 2007 .. But After 2007 Wc Too He Reinvented Himself & Added Different Arrays of Shots to Maintain the Flow ( Such as Varities of Upper Cuts from Over d Points to Over d Slips Etc ..

Absiolutely fantastic innings! Thank you so much for sharing! However, he is way more compact nowadays...he looked quite restless through that innings, possibly pressurized by the fact that the game would be lost if he was dismissed...90 out of 140 and tremendous acceleration if you consider that he only scored 5 from his first 16 balls...comes to around 85 from the last 68! Thanks again for sharing!

This is my favourite upload of yours ever, Rob. While I've seen all of these boundaries before, the defensive shots and 1s and 2s are just as important to constructing an innings, and it's great to see the mastery in this area also. Next time you do on of these, could you also include the wickets falling at the other end? I think they'll give more context. And isn't it great to see Warne in his prime too! Love it!

I was 8, but thank God still old enough to remember it. I watched the Australian innings and had to tape the Indian innings due to the time difference and having to go to school the next morning.

LOL Rob you are a legend "he single handedly keeps India in the contest, before he loses his cool and loses the match. " HAHAHAHAHAHA I laughed so much when i watched this! So many people say he cheated and he is gay because he bowled a wide bowl to get him stumped.... but people who say that wouldn't have ever thought of being that smart and bowling that.... smart bowling :)

On a lighter note, what's up with the Tendulkar videos? Did Tendulkar take cognizance of the article in the Guardian, mentioning your amazing collection of videos and personally apologize for the ridiculous and insensitive behaviour of his fans on your youtube page! :)

Sachin is 50 not out, India 60 for 2, and Shastri's insight is "He's got to pace his innings, bat till the end..". Not a word about the jokers around Tendulkar. Azhar gave more pieces of "advice" to Sachin than runs he scored. Ha.

Cricket was at its real best before 2002...more so in the 1990s...and without Sachin,it would been utter humiliation for Team India during that time...Even the confidence levels of other players used to go down in matches when Sachin did not play.....Now Cricket has become so dull and batsmen oriented...

That was such a low thing to do, disgrace to SL cricket that moment. I can't believe anyone would do that on purpose, Pakistan did it too in Australia in 92/93, though a batsmen wasnt on 99*, it was a deliberate no ball to end the match.

At least this was back in the days when Channel 9 (the free-to-air broadcaster of cricket in Australia) showed World Cup matches in full, unlike their abysmal effort in the recent 2011 World Cup where they only showed the 2nd innings of the Australian matches live. Only their match vs New Zealand was broadcast in full because it was a day game. Stuff 9 (I'm sure Rob agrees with me).

Atleast we (aussies and Indians) bowl wides to stump batsmen.. Unlike Sri Lankans who deliberately bowl NO Balls to leave opposing Batsmen stranded on 99*

Opening with Ajay Jadeja was a wrong decision. And sending Vinod kambli in number 3 is also wrong decision. Azhar should have come next. Hope the Opening should have done with Sanjay Manjrekar. This combination would have worked. Since past is past nothing can be done now. Sachin is the best. No body to support tendulkar in his batting. So India not only losses this match , but many matches has been lost in this way
